Camiezone babies from Homer and Big Girl

10 feeders wow! I’m lucky if Bert eats 3. He has really slowed down.
Now you know why Bolt sings like a fat cat! He is a fat cat!

I just explained to Bolt that I'm only giving him 7 feeders per day depending on size. 1 large grasshopper = 2 feeders, 1 extra large grasshopper = 3 feeders!

Bolt, please stop talking back! Sassy, sassy, sassy.

Crickets, Silk and Horn worms large- grasshoppers medium to large, 1 1/2"-2".
Ok when I say 7 feeders I was thinking medium sized lol. With the sizes your feeding he is getting a lot. I am honestly surprised he has not curbed down on his own yet even though he is only 7 months.

I'm thinking 5 medium-large feeders is probably best. The grasshoppers can be as long as 3". Thanks. I'll definitely monitor and adjust how much I feed Bolt.

My pleasure hun. Keep him on every day feeding for now. :)
Just out of curiosity how long do we feed every day? I'm starting to taper from every day to every other and both days on weekends but I was starting to see left over feeders in his bowl so I slowed
Down.

Maybe I should pick it back up since he eats so fast when I put his feeders in now

I do not take mine to every other day until roughly 9-10 months old. And that is only if the cham is showing signs of fat storage or has started its own curb down with appetite.

I keep them on every day and just start reducing the feeder amounts if I see fat storage or if they slow down and start leaving feeders. This I found works best for them until they are old enough to need to be on an every other day. For example if your dealing with a 7 month old and you are feeding 12 medium sized feeders everyday but they are only eating 7 or 8. Then go ahead and reduce to the 8 a day and see how they do.

Of course all of this is based on having a healthy cham that is not showing signs of appetite reduction due to parasite load. :)

Wow Bolt has a big appetite! Our Picasso who is only about 5 months will only eat maybe 4 or 5 grasshoppers (maybe 1.5”, medium) and 1 or 2 medium/large silkworm in a day. With dubias, he will only eat maybe 2 mediums.

Yall increase your feeder size so much faster than I ever did with growing babies. Heck I still keep Beman on 1/2 inch sized feeders to avoid mouth injury :hilarious: Yes, I may be a helicopter cham-parent though.

Oh ummm I did feed 6 month old Bert an adult praying mantis and full-sized hornworms and hoppers. They disappeared quickly and with a flurry of chomping which I refer to as, “the crunchies”.

I’m still giving Bart anywhere from 10-12 + feeders daily of about 1/2” size. He’s going on 7 months old and empties his feeding station within minutes. He’s not showing any signs of over-eating. He is however, having the winter blahs with his colors fading. The weather here has been crazy and I’m having to turn the heat on at night and then the ac during the day. Maybe that is why? It’s the exact time of year when Jack got his winter blahs a few years ago. Mango is right next to Bart and doesn’t have the blahs. I wonder why some panthers get them and some don’t?

Like I said I worry about mouth injuries and my lack of a proper reptile vet near me. lol And after watching a chameleon choke on a full sized hornworm and then gag it back up I will never go there. Not to mention full sized hornworms bite really hard and do not like to let go. I wish I still had the pic of my finger after one bit me and drew blood.

Those things are awful! I got bit by a hornworm and it was worse than a gecko!

Yeah it totally took me by surprise. It was one that got too large for me to risk feeding so I decided to keep feeding the jerk and let him pupate. He bit the hell out of my finger. I did not expect it at all.
Everything I read said hornworms don't bite but in my opinion anything with a mouth can bite and y'all are proof! I disable both ends of hornworms by squeezing them with tongs. It is a bit barbaric but oh well!
