Camille's Surgery is Tomorrow

She will be in my prayers! I know everything will be ok!

Just out of curiousity, how much do surgeries like this usually cost?

I will hold Camille in my heart and thoughts all day tomorrow praying for the absolute best!

You are in excellent hands! Fingers crossed for you & Camille....

The PNHS foster female Veiled Cham that was spayed last Monday is doing phenomenally well.... Very optimistic for you!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts. Camille is still a very sick little girl but she did not have surgery. When we arrived at Dr. Mader's he examined Camille and we talked about her previous x-rays and the ultra sound and he still was not 100% sure that she had an egg problem. He wanted to do one of his own x-rays and still not sure there were eggs. He did see what looked to be an maybe an abscess under her lung. He did some new blood work and her white blood cell count was extremely high and the red count very low. He said it was very serious. He gave her an Iron injection and a Vit. B injection. I have vitamins to give her at home and Chloramphenicol an antibiotic for the abscess. He said the abscess could be from a ruptured ovary but it was right under the lung. He said it was a good thing we didn't go into surgery with her red blood count so low or it would have been very dangerous. Dr. Alfonso will run blood work again in two week to see if she's improving and hopefully the antibiotic will cap off the abscess or she still might need surgery to remover the abscess when her blood count is back up.

I'm glad that I took her and and really glad that Dr. Mader didn't rush into surgery. We spent 3 and 1/2 hours in the clinic this morning and I now have Camille basking under her light and looking out her window at the pool over looking the water here in the beautiful FL Keys.

what an emotional rollercoaster! At least you are one step closer to figuring out what is wrong. I am so glad the Dr took time to examine her before the surgery.

We are all pulling for her. Camille is a very special little lady

Whoa! That's a good Dr.! Good thing he caught that.

Camille looks like she is enjoying the view while she basks, such a sweet girl.

glad you have such a good vet.. is the antibiotic called cloranfenicol, if so its the same stuff im using for mouth rot and just a fyi DO NOT get it on your skin you can get some bad sickness from it, ( if they didnt tell you that )

edit: i just looked and it appers that chloranfeicol is a different antibiotic than Chloramphenicol, so close

So glad that she didn't have to have surgery - those American vets are wonderful! I still have everything crossed for you and Camille. She is a beautiful girly-cham.

Thanks everyone.

Hoj, it's still some bad med. I had to sign a waver to get it and if it comes into contact with me, 1 out of 10,000 women die from the illness it causes. I'll be wearing gloves and being extra careful.

Jann. I hope everything starts to pick up for your little one and she starts to mend without surgery. She sure has an awesome view that makes me want to be one of your chams. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

OMG! Please be VERY careful with that stuff!! How can something that dangerous to humans help chameleons?
