OMG! Please be VERY careful with that stuff!! How can something that dangerous to humans help chameleons?
The drug is actually a good one and that side effect is only seen in humans. It's not even seen in dogs and cats! Weird right?
Glad to hear Camille is getting the best care! I hope medical management works and you won't have to worry about it anymore soon!
question ferrit, how similar are the two antibiotics that jann and i are using?
Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts. Camille is still a very sick little girl but she did not have surgery. When we arrived at Dr. Mader's he examined Camille and we talked about her previous x-rays and the ultra sound and he still was not 100% sure that she had an egg problem. He wanted to do one of his own x-rays and still not sure there were eggs. He did see what looked to be an maybe an abscess under her lung. He did some new blood work and her white blood cell count was extremely high and the red count very low. He said it was very serious. He gave her an Iron injection and a Vit. B injection. I have vitamins to give her at home and Chloramphenicol an antibiotic for the abscess. He said the abscess could be from a ruptured ovary but it was right under the lung. He said it was a good thing we didn't go into surgery with her red blood count so low or it would have been very dangerous. Dr. Alfonso will run blood work again in two week to see if she's improving and hopefully the antibiotic will cap off the abscess or she still might need surgery to remover the abscess when her blood count is back up.
I'm glad that I took her and and really glad that Dr. Mader didn't rush into surgery. We spent 3 and 1/2 hours in the clinic this morning and I now have Camille basking under her light and looking out her window at the pool over looking the water here in the beautiful FL Keys.
