Can I use Philodendron in a pygmy set up?

I know that these plants are toxic for Melleri but what about pygmy? I have some and the ivy I have in their set up is dying...so I wanted to know if Philodendron is toxic for pygmies also. I just wasn't sure since they don't eat leaves like Melleri:) Thanks for any info!

I havent seen my guys eat any leaves, BUT philodendrons are pretty toxic. Buy a pathos, give it a month and that thing will take over your cage. Then when you trim it, root the clippings and grow more plants!

They are toxic, but brevicaudatus will never try to eat them. Wheater they are able or not. Btw: Ivy is also toxic ;)

I thought Ivy was fine..... I am going to take it out and put something else in there. I know that they won't eat it but just in case a loose cricket does! What other plants would you suggest?

THANKS!!! Are Pathos pretty hardy? I am terrible with plants they end up dying on me after a few months! I should go knock on some wood though since I have had three ficuses for about 1/2 a year now with no problems!!:)

The small ficus species like pumila. Maybe some farns and moss. Asparagus are nearly perfect for all small chameleons, but they aren't easy to get, maybe via ebay

Pothos is a pretty hardy plant, and can be cut and rerooted like nobody's business; if you buy a big one, you can root cuttings by putting them in water for a bit, then stick them in the pygmy cage substrate, and replace as needed. I find orchids really like my pygmy terrarium; ferns have not fared nearly so well. Ficus has done great since day one (like yours) and seems to be the preferred plant to climb.

Maybe I will look for the pumila since I would just kill the ferns.....I have never had sucess with those even when I lived in Humboldt County! Thanks

Thanks I will look for a Pothos since my plants are having a hard time right now and the babies should be comming in about two months so I want to have plenty of plants growing for two pygmy homes!

They are probably not even able to do this ;). It's just an adaption to their habitat: At the places where they live there's always enough water for them to drink. Species which live in dry habitats eat leaves for getting enough water
