Can you please look?

Thanks everyone for watching the video, and for the kind words. I really love my job, and I want kids to be inspired to learn. Someone mentioned the little girl with the roach....she was terrified of Fuego at the beginning of the year and couldn't even stand to look at the crickets. Now she handles roaches like a champ. The kid who did the karate chop on the board...his mom just died and his dad is trying to figure out how to raise 3 young boys on his own. Taking care of Fuego has been his therapy and his only motivation to write. Having Fuego in the classroom has turned out to be so much more rewarding then I ever imagined it would be! So thanks for watching, they will be so proud to see the views and comments on their video:D

That made my day! Great production value and they are obviously taking excellent care of their chameleon. I love the evil art teacher.....

**edited to add**

I hope you don't mind, but I shared it with a yahoo group that's totally not "chameleon" but also totally supportive of fun people doing interesting things....and so far one of them has put it on her facebook page, so hopefully that will help crank up the views/comments.

Thank you!
:)

If more than 3 people visited my facebook page a year, I'd do it.

You might want to link to the video in your signature. Just a thought.

That was awesome! I work with an after school program and brought in my veiled for the kids to see. I love how you actually have a chameleon as a classroom pet! That is amazing!

Having him in the classroom has only presented one problem....I don't like coming home to an empty cage at my house! Since I currently have 67 eggs incubating, I think I'll take one of Fuego's offspring in next year and leave him there. I just have to tell myself that I'm not going to get attached to it like I am attached to Fuego. I considered having crested geckos in there, but it's just not the same experience for the kids.

Those kids are exceptionally lucky to have a teacher like you, and you will always be one of the coolest teachers they ever remember having. Your cham is awesome, and the best of luck with the eggs! Next years class will be another group of kids to introduce to the wonderful world of chameleons, and who knows how you might inspire some of them...excellent job all the way around!!!!:D

You have got to be the coolest teacher ever! Those ninjas are lucky to have had you this year. And next year, all the incoming fourth graders will be so excited when they see Fuego and find out they get to be ninjas too!

That's a fabulous idea!

Now that's what I call a good teacher! I love the entire concept of the video. It was really adorable and the kids seem to be having a blast!

I'm also very impressed with the student handling the roach. My 22 year old friend has her own colony and she still won't touch them. I would have lost my mind if one of my teachers had a class Chameleon.

You and Fuego are really doing a service to those kids. Always remember that. Now.. how do we vote for the "Best Teacher of the Year" award? :)

Wow. I don't remember school being fun like that. Kid's busting wood in half, I'm a Peace Officer and I can't bust wood in half like that

Also never learned about Chameleon's or did anything entertaining like that. I'm jealous.

That was pretty great! Great film quality as well. That art teacher seemed almost as evil as min in high school. He actually had a gecko that was living in his art closet that he assumed had gotten out of the science teachers care. He was never able to catch it, so he just watched for it all the time and would leave for food it that would get eaten. He named it Diego.

Wow, thank you all so very much. I need to hear that sometimes! I teach because school was awful for me as a child, and it didn't have to be. Kids should not be forced to sit still and listen to an adult speak at them. They can't do it. If they do sit still, they aren't learning, they are just memorizing. Kids need to move and they need to be taught how to solve problems. I don't want my students to feel like going to school is torture! But it's hard work, that's for sure. Here I am, up at midnight, because I wanted to make them all celebratory (and harmless) nunchucks. That's ok, they are worth it!

Someone asked my kids today what the most important thing they learned in fourth grade was. Their response, "Mrs. Garcia taught us that we can solve our own problems and that we should be leaders, not followers." I couldn't have asked for a better response:D

"Mrs. Garcia taught us that we can solve our own problems and that we should be leaders, not followers."

Oh, my! I teared up just reading that...I can only imagine how you felt.

You're that teacher that kids seek out years later as adults to say "Thank you, you're the reason I made it in the world."

Cool video, cool kids and gorgeous Chameleon. I left a comment on the video. Great work. I wish my teacher was as awesome as you!!! :D

Incoming rep points for you!!!
