Cannibalistic crickets

Saw a really disgusting thing today. I got a bug delivery a couple of days ago and had to put the remaining 5 black crix into a small box to empty the big one. It was 3 small males and 2 huge females. Today I saw a female eating one of the males. He was cut open on his back and still moving while she was munching on him:eek: gross! They have food in their box, so she didn't really need to do that. After a while it was only his head and legs left. Vicious beasts!

Those black species of crickets are nasty little guys. The devour each other very quickly. Now many of the cricket distributors are using the banded cricket and they won't eat away at their colony.

I like black crix, they stink less.
I knew they are cannibals, but I've never actually seen one devouring another like that. Was gross... but kinda cool too

Same with me, I had a few black adult cricks left when I got a fresh order of brown banded cricks, so I just threw them in together.
The banded cricks were much smaller the black ones and the black cricks started to chow down on them
It was crazy, I had to fish those black suckers out of the crick bin!!
