Here's a video of some offroading with a club im in. You can also read about the trip on the hummer manufacturer website under hummer world-> hummer helps -> then to owner stories. There is a nice pic of me and my rig on the main owner stories page:cool: I was supposed to be in a hummer commercial a few months ago, but I think GM lost interest in the brand:(

H3s right? I've been very curious about them lately in terms of off-road capability. Where is that? Reminds me a lot of Cleghorn Ridge in CA.

I was the only one in an H3, the other 3 were in H2's. The trail in the video is Nightmare Gulch and out through Last Chance Canyon in Mojave. It's not in books(Nightmare Gulch), although the ridge top trail is(nightmare gulch overlook trail). I believe some sites have rated it 5-6. It's an awsome trail. Takes about 6-8 hours to drive 12 miles.

The photo is Rhower Flats OHV in Santa Clarita. Fun shorter trail, not too bad except for the hill I was decending in the photo which has a bypass. One of my freinds rolled his H1 on that same hill:eek: he wasn't listening to spoters though.

H3 capability... As good as a lot of modified rigs, but not as good as an extreme rock crawler rig. They do have a weekness in the front diff unless you get the alpha package or upgrade to the cast iron front differential( $1,000-1,500 upgrade).

Overall, I've done some of the tougher trails in SoCal that can possibly be done in a none rock crawling rig and never have been disappointed or had problems, but to be honest, some of my friends in NorCal have broken their front diffs on trails like fordyce Rubicon ect.

BTW Dave,

Hummer X club welcomes all capable rigs memebr or non member. ALthough it was started as a Hummer club, a good portion of the trail riders do not drive Hummers anymore. Theres trips almost monthly. Check out the forum if you want to go on a trail run. Its a great group of people and the trips are always fun.

I am a wheeler at heart. Its one of my favorite past times, besides watching F1 and the LeMans and Rolex series.I have a slightly built CJ7 thats I break and fix as much as possible. Living in NH doesnt offer much for "legal" wheeling. I am trying to talk my g/f into moving out west.
I want to put a body kit on the van and do some engine upgrades. I have seen a few body kits online and they look pretty good on a van. I havent seen in person a Grand Caravan done up so it will be a first for me.

Thanks for the invite, Kevin. I'm just about ready to get back out on some trails. My ABS/TC/HDC (Hill Decent Control) is all down at the moment and I need to get it repaired. I just bought some 265/75/16 BFG MTs, but need to get a set of steels and a lift before I can run them. I might not make it out until after the holidays...ugh! If I had only known better I would have bought an '04 as they all came with Center Diff Locks.

I'm definitely a truck/suv with a truck frame type guy. I used to have a sports car(M3), it just doesn't fit me any more... No need for speed. I have more fun taking 8 hours to drive 12 miles of the toughest terrain and rescuing 15 people than going 90 up the twisties and risking my passenger and my lives:)

99grand cherokee

Is that after they changed it from the old model? I have some friends that have modded GC that are sweet with lifts, suspension and full roll cages(and leather seats:))

A Buell is on the way for me:cool:(as well as a sedan that won't leave my family {hand me donwn:D}, although I am starting to think about a sportster, same basic motor. Ones more sporty, ones more comfy... I think I am going for the buell:rolleyes: I've wanted one since before I could drive:)

If only that were true. I'd say gas and MPG are the biggest concerns of the American people (at least most discussed). They're not nearly as bad as the prices you're dealing with in the UK, but my American standards we're getting killed at the pump.

I wish I could get my hands on a Diesel Discovery II, but Rover didn't sell them in the US.

Haha, this reminded me about this article i read about a very well known japanese tuner,he tuned up a honda odyssey, had it lowered, couldnt do much performance wise due to the fact that the engine bay was so small. Just thought it was funny:p

Beutiful STIs btw, idk about you but i have found a liking to the new ones too,the STI and the wrx, very subtle.

Hey Dave Weldon, is that picture from the P.I.R. Historic races? Looks familiar. Had a great time there this year. '67 fastback mustang here. Will post some pics as soon as I get this all figured out.
