Cham tails

I've seen many pictures of chams sitting around on branches or doing various cham things, and most of the time I see them with their tails all nice rolled up.

Whats strange is that Clyde doesn't seem to roll his tail except when I annoy him by touching it. He uses it on occassion but he always has it straight out.

Do some chams prefer to keep it close to their body? He's healthy and his tail has no defects, it just a curious thing I noticed.

mine do the same.
It's funny :D
they do roll it up when they're sleeping though.

Funny you should mention the sleeping part. Sometimes he does, but usually its just draped over a nearby plant or wrapped lightly around something.

Pretty dense. Lots of different styles of branches and plants to climb through. Thinking maybe I don't challenge him enough when he climbs?

it could be that you cage is so populated with plants, he just cant rool up his tail. my cham depending on the spot he is in cant roll up.

fruit roll up

ignore my title i'm a fool. Anyways, they'll have it outstraight for balance at times but mine have theirs curled up like a snail shell 99.9% of the time while sleeping. What kind of cham do you have? Maybe it's species specific who knows!

Some of our chams coil their's whenever they are at rest, some drape them, some hang them straight out or straight down. When they are sleeping, most coil their tail, but not all, and those that do don't do it everynight.

Maybe he is just a relaxed guy. Some people are just relaxed people. Your chameleon could be the equivalent of that relaxed human being we've seen in the movie "office space." Molly always curls her tail when i look at her, shes a nervous nelly though.

curled up

I have a veiled and a mountain dwarf and I have found that it depends on where they are sleeping my vieled sleeps on the same branch all the time and his tail is always curled up,but my dwarf hangs almost vertically upright when she sleeps and wraps her tail around the vine she is sleeping on.

Maybe its one of those philosophical questions like if a hear a flame is it already out? lol :D There is no right answer from what I'm reading. I guess unless it falls off or hooks at a 90 degree angle he's fine!:)

Thanks for the inputs!
