I think the Chameleon Forums has absolutely got to make a Chameleon Day now. Is there any more worthy site in North America to make that holiday? I think the Chameleon Forums should move forward with this agenda!

I noticed on Wikipedia that "Rafinesque, 1815" is listed as the taxonomic authority for the family Chamaeleonidae.
The guy has an interesting history.

Although I want to say the day I first brought Zaphod home, that would be selfish. My answer to this question is simple.

The day that Chameleon Forums had its first post. I know how much this site has meant to me and so many others, so it makes sense!

Of course, January 18th is a great day to be considered, but just sayin...

Why not "International" chameleon day, "World" chameleon day, "Galactic" chameleon day (yes, getting closer to the Zaphod references...)

How about the second day of Spring April 2nd (not April 1)? The beginning of chameleons in the northern hemisphere (in captivity and the wild) going outside and experience the best weather of the year.

I posted that consideration already. The birthday post has been considered too. I think nobody is going for that type of embellishment except for maybe the historical Chamaeleonidae taxonomic reference.

That would be ideal. Definitely a disadvantage to an October date.

Besides, that is still post-winter for a lot of folks

You are right. I did not confirm the date. The first day of Spring is March 20th. I am for March 20th day being Chameleon day.

Actually, you are wrong. My wife suggested this date before I suggested the idea! That is her B-Day and I would get major points if we went with that one!!!

However, In chameleon species native habitat in the Northern hemisphere that is the start of hatching season.

I am actually probably for April 2nd being the date. That is a new start to a new month (by 1 day) and technically a new season (by 11 days). Plus the weather is nicer presumably in April than in March. That is thinking of chameleons agenda's and the going along new beginnings and seasons theme.
