Howdy,
Liquid food: "Ensure" or its generic version.

My vet recommended it as a reasonable food source in an emergency. It's canned and has a decent shelf-life. Best of all, if you don't use it up at least you can drink the leftovers yourself and not worry about picking the cricket legs from between your teeth:).

Reptile Xtra ANTI-BACTERIAL MEAL?

Looking around I found the above product... would this be safe? Especially in a situation where something like Baytril might be dangerous or impractical?

you can get syringes at a pharmacy w/ no sript. diabetics due it at times.
i have a insuling pump, but at tiimes choose to do needles. i haven't had a script for them in along time.
you can also get a baby syringe as well. you can also ask your phymacy for a syringe for meds.

question for you guys...
after reading this i decided to get some of the items on the list.
i got the flukers repta aid. however somewhere higher up some one said their vet suggest ensure.
which is better? is this something i should have on hand?
the flukers said says it is for stressing animals. i am getting a new cham this weekend. at what point would you use this? some say that when they first get to their new home they don't eat for a few days? this says it helps when they are stressed from moving.
can anyone clear this up. also they had a nother type product by exo terra, with much less things in it,and cheaper. it was liquid though and didn't come with any of the other things that this other does.
ok i know i asked alot of questions i just want to make sure i hae what i need to before i get my guy here.
tia.

As far as force feeding a new cham, don't. The only reason you should force feed is if you see major weight loss and you know for a fact he is not eating. Before you do force feed it would be a very good idea to have the cham to a qualified vet first. Let the vet determine why he is not eating.

Your new cham will not eat for a couple of days when you get him, this is fine. Just offer him a few crickets and leave him alone. Don't walk by a whole bunch of times or sit and watch him a lot. Just let him get used to his new home.

Also be sure to set everything up right the first time so you don't have to make adjustments while he is in the cage. Hands reaching around inside his new home will only stress him more.

hello I was wondering if Gentamicin Sulfate is the same as the Gentamicin mentioned in this post. My roommate has some Gentamicin Sulfate leftover from a kittens eye problem. I was just wondering if I could use it for my emergency kit.

dodolah asked..."Bird Tape? Kinyonga, what exactly is it for?"...you can't really use bandaids or adhesive take on chameleons...so this tape sticks to itself and not to the chameleon so it can be wrapped around (a tail for instance) so that it covers a wound.

If your looking for the bird tape i think it's also called coban or vet wrap. you can usually find it at most larger pet shops and veterinary supplies, it comes in 1 inch and 2 inch widths and maybe wider rolls. Has many uses, splinting, covering injured eyes, wounds, etc.

comocham...don't know what to tell you. Most medications have expiry dates to begin with. Is it (eye) drops?

Yes they are eye drops and he got them about a week ago for a kitten who wouldn't open an eye. exp. date is 10-12-09. I just don't want them to go to waste due to the fact that i am a college student and if ever I did run into a problem with my guy's eyes I may not be able to afford them. He gave them to me for free and it would be sweet if they are the right thing.

too bad your in Florida.

HAHA, couldn't help laughing. TJ isn't but a hopscotch away... ;)
Good list to have though, might invest in a few of these items.

Do some of these drugs apply to chameleons as well as other reptiles (i.e. like Terramiacin, etc.)? Thanks! :D
