chameleon freaks out seeing a flower

I have had this conversation with others about my red hair being aversive to raising chameleons. LOL.

My little guys likes to eat red hibiscus on occasion. He never appeared upset by the plant and likes to crawl all over it. Maybe I have conditioned him to the red thing. ;)

Even white...

I like to use paper plates for snacks and small meals.... This morning after some waffles I was looking at Jake while holding my plate and he started to huff and puff while staring at my white paper plate....

I purchased some brown gloves from home depot. I will try them out today and see how he fairs.

So what color Hibiscus would a Chameleon not flip out? Or is it just that some are picky?

Maybe you could do a color test and show your cham objects of different colors to see how he reacts to them? Then purchase the plant with the same color you get the best response to. It is a bit drastic but hey, people seem to go to great lengths to please their chams on this forum.

In San Diego I can find all different colors of Hibiscus plants from a local nursery (e.g., peach, pink, red, yellow, white).

Just an update: The new brown gloves worked well with Fred. Jake didn't seem to be fooled. Jake bit me repeatedly. Once he was in his new cage he just stared at me. He was not happy!
