Chameleon gaping

My 7 month old Cham has been gaping a lot I've the past two days, his basking is 80-85 and low 70s in the ambient
There is no mucus in or around his mouth or crackling/popping sounds?
Today I found him clinging to the mesh under the basking lamp but and he was dark suggesting he needed more heat but I thought his temps were suitable?
Humidity drops to 50 and then up to 80/90 after misting.
Could this be a show of aggression? Sometimes he huffs when climbing off my hands when putting him back in his viv after being in his free roaming tree...
Any ideas on why he's gaping?
I've had him 3 and a half weeks with no shed yet and he's not eaten as much as usual today (2/3 hoppers instead of his usual 7ish)
Normal poops and white urates.

I've seen him gape when on his free standing tree, just after his lights go out, or when sitting on the vibe under his UV.
I've got one of the thermo-hygrometers with one thermometer at the basking spot and a twin thermometer & hygrometer in the ambient spot about halfway up the viv at the back left, basking is front right

I've noticed a few white flaky spots on him today so I hope it's all down to shedding, I know I should mist more regularly but is there anything else I could do to help him along?

With shedding I let my boy do his thing. Extra mistings can help and keep an eye all shed comes off. Especially end of tail, feet.
If your thermometer is a dial one, don't fully trust it. I, as many on here, use is a digital temp gun. Can get all your readings without multiple thermometers.

Where do you get your temp gun?

I've got digital thermometers, I'd never trust a gauge!
I've come home from work to find his back starting to peel, his first shed with me! Very happy :D
He's a nosy faly panther

I'm in the uk, but I ordered it off amazon.

Okay, thanks. I'll take a look to see what I can find... All I have right now is a thermometer that's got sort of a "clock" hand or whatever... Not sure what to call it haha. But it's not digital.

I should probably round up a few more, then, huh?

P.S. ^^^^^That Panther is amazing!! Never seen one blue like that :D Awesome

It sounds like your thermometers are gauges, they aren't very accurate. The laser temp guns look pretty good.
Kath, would you say this one would work all right? Just I've spent so much on kit for Parkers viv that I'm running out of funds!

Also, he exploded while I was at work! He's scratching like a dog and isn't a happy chap, he sounds like a carrier bag when he walks!
