chameleon health issues SPERM PLUG,SKIN CONDITION,URINARY TRACT INFECTION. PLEASE HEL

Hi I'm new to this forum
I have recently got a 3 year old veiled chameleon. The previous owner didn't have the time to look after him

Here's my problems the previous own said he was poorly with a URINARY TRACT INFECTION (apparently seen vet and had antibiotics and should recover) I'm not sure how much I believe of this
I received him very weak and unable to climb I've been finger feeding him and syringe water as much as possible

I've moved the lights down to get him his uv and heat for the 12 hours a day he needs I've also got him some REPTAID to see if it helps

I've also just discovered that he has large SPERM plugs one of which I've managed to get out the other I'm struggling with I'm sure il get it out tho I must say there was a huge relief from him when I got it out (if u understand) u can actually see in the picture (now removed)

Also he looks like he has a skin issue.... Scale rot????? I'm not sure I will post pictures of it now!! Mainly around his bum but has spots of it on legs, spine,and side this I thought mabe dry feaces due to the infection but I'm sure it's more than that some of it has come off and it's all tender and red where it has come off!

MY QUESTIONS ARE.....
Can sperm plugs cause health problems??
Can I have some info on urinary tract infection??? (I've not managed to find much)
And please give me any info on this skin issue he has please

Hi and welcome to the forums! As for sperm plugs causing I don't believe they cause problems, but because of the other issues I'd get him to the vet asap
 
get to a vet!

Poor thing hes so dehydrated and skinny! :( give him as much water as possible and get to a vet. Poor guy x
 
Yes I know the poor thing this obviously hasn't happened over night the previous owner was very hard to get information out of I took him on as I'd like to think I'm somewhat more clued up on chameleons as I've previously had a few of them but never had one that's so weak and shaky...... His coordination is bad aswel he keeps grabbing himself (other legs) instead of branches or whatever more his back legs

I've been giving him plenty of water and he has perked up alot in the past few days of receiving him but he's still not climbing he's just to weak to do so

Any ideas on the skin issue?

You can see in the pictures of the chameleon being held upside down that hes got a lot of loose skin on his stomach. That would indicate being too skinny, as well as dehydrated. Buko, have you tried putting him in the shower yet? That should really help with hydration. Also, what have you been feeding him/ is he eating??
 
I noticed you have two posts of the exact same thing on here. Try not to do that. Stick to one post so that others aren't missing information from one post to another.

I've been giving him dusted locusts and waxworms he's eating and drinking quite well
This is the reason I thought the sperm plugs was a big issue
And this urinary tract infection he supposed to of had mabe causing him to not poo mabe its giving him bad stomach ache due to this I just don't know

I've not showered him no.... But I will try this and read up on it
 
I've never read anything on here about urinary tract infections in chameleons before...having said that, that doesn't mean they don't exist. I've just never heard of them before. I also have never seen a skin issue like the one he has around his vent. Polysporin MAY help heal the area. It looks like his scales are completely missing around the area, and is probably pretty painful. I'd suggest making an appointment yourself with a herp vet experienced in chameleon care, and get the info straight from the horses mouth, instead of relying on the person who you recovered this poor little guy from.
 
I agree with Christine, I've never heard of a UTI in chams, and his skin around his vent looks bad. Get polysporin without the pain relief, hopefully it will help
