Chameleon not growing

Your Chameleon - Panther, not sure of the sex, about 4 months.
Handling -Do not take him out much but hand fed daily.
Feeding - Crickers, and just started some wax worms, feed daily eats about 5-8 crickets.
Supplements - Fluker's calcium 2:1 about 5 days a week multi vit about every 2 weeks.
Watering - I mist 2 times a day and use a dripper. i mist for about 10 sec. I do see him drink.
Fecal Description -Looks good white and brown


Cage Info:
Cage Type - right now he is in a glass 10 gal, it the smallest thing i have, he has a wire cage but he is to small for it.
Lighting -UV light, 40 watt heat light.
Temperature - Basking about 85, 80 on the cool side 70-75 night time. Taken with a dig. inferred ther.
Humidity - Do not measure humidity, but it should be good has live plants and normal humidity is 70 to 80 here.
Plants - Yes right now asparagus fern.
Placement - Not high traffic but not a no traffic area, mid height. no fans or vents by it.
Location - North east TN

Current Problem -He is not growing, I have started to weight him and in the last 3 weeks he has only gained 1 oz he is 4 oz now. He eats, Drinks and wants to be held sometimes. Any help would be great.

They all grow at different rates. If you want to help him grow at the best rate he can personally grow. Make sure your husbandry is spot on. Feed him all he can eat 2-3 times a day/
 
There are free range crickets in there and a have a glass dish that has crickets in there all the time, he just worries me because he is growing so slow, i see other people 4-5 month old chameleons and they are big but he can sit on my pinkie with room to move.

as ataraxia said, each cham grows at their own rate. he will catch up! i read thread the other day comparing two chameleons growth, they were the same age, same kind, same care, and one grew super fast and the other slower and they caught up to each other at around 10 months :) dont worry he will get there!! i will try to find the thread for you :)
 
Try some different feeders. The more varied diet the healthier cham. He might also be bored with crickets.
 
Do you have any D3 in your supplements?


How long does he usually bask for? Does he roam around much? Increasing ambient temps is one way to help increase appetite, if that's what you'd like to do.
 
I have a few panthers that just seemed they would never grow. They all sem to come around in their own time but I have found if the temps are low their appetite is less and they will obviously grow a little slower.
 
No i do not have to force feed him, i have to pick up the food dish and bring to up to him, i do have D3 and he gets that about every 2 weeks like the multi vit. I have tried diff feeders he is not a fan of roaches i have seen him get some but most he spits back out, i have done flies and hornworms and i'm currently trying to breed hornworms. His temp is fine right 85 is the high and about 75 at night.
I think i got them all, oh yea i have tried silkworms but they never live long enough to do anything with.

1 oz in a week is alright imho. When I got Bishop, he was like 9g, and he stayed like that for 2 months. That was 'not growing'. So, don't worry and keep doing what you are doing=)
 
So let me get this straight...he's a 4 month old panther that weighs 4 oz.? That means he's 112 grams; that seems ginormous to me for his age. Mine is around 6.5 months & is 50 grams. It sounds like you have a mini dinosaur.

That's what I was going to say. Growing 28 grams in a month at 4 months old is a ton of growing! Your guy sounds giant for how old he is. If he really is that large, I wouldn't be concerned about him not growing, but I would be concerned that a 100+ gram chameleon is in a 10 gallon tank!
 
BTW Reptilelove~ thank you so much for that link! I sometimes worry my guy is a bit small for his age. Love the comparisons...thanks again!
 
i'm sorry 4 grams lol. Thanks that blog is awesome, that should be a sticky or something here, the pic on the right is my guy, thanks that make me feel so much better. grams grams grams sorry, hes only in the tank because he is so small he has a 30'' h 24''L 18'' W cage waiting for him.

What kind of UVB light are you using? Are you using a calcium with d3 in it? What are you gutloading with?

Start feeding him much more. Allow him to eat 2-3 times a day. Let him eat as many as he can in about 5 minutes each time.
 
its a reptisun 10.0, i use D3 about once every 2 weeks. I gut load with the orange cubes greens and carrots, he always has food in there, there are some free range crickets and some in a glass dish so they can't get out, well its hard for them to get out.
