CHameleon size

a UVB bulb doesn't emit heat and needs to be 6-8 inches from his basking spot. I am concerned about uvb, uva and heat bulb all together?????? That isn't good. Please go to my blog and see what light you should be using. YOu don't need a UVA bulb and for heat all you need is a clip light with a household light bulb in it (I use 60w).

Providing the correct light for your cham is very important. Have you read the kitty article yet? Please do.

That's all that is needed. Put your hand under a glowing light bulb and tell me if you can feel heat or not. LOL I just burned my arm on a light bulb that I happened to touch while filling a dripper. A thermometer is a necessity to check the temp on his basking spot. Make sure it is 85-90, closer to 85 no hotter than 90! It is ok to turn the lamp off if it gets hot in the house. Your ambient room temp should be about 75 with basking at 85 and bottom of cage a bit cooler because of your plants. Voila....happy cham.

Yea, I use 2 40watts as I have a double fixture with my UVB linear. All you need a Linear UVB and a single basking light. Focus the basking light on a corner tp only heat up one side/spot of the cage so that the cham can get away from the heat if he pleases to cool down. If you basking temp is higher than 85, then move the basking lamp up higher (clamps make this option easier). Offer high and low branches and lots of foliage for hiding. Make sure you read up on what plants are appropriate for chams. I use this list http://www.chameleonsonline.com/safe-plants.php
It wont let me use the link insert so youll have to copy and paste.:) Good luck.

Hey, if you want to use photobucket and post a pic, just copy the very bottom option.......it starts with https://www.chameleonforums.com/chameleon-size-20060/...........Then past it in and it will show. You can also resize them on photobucket but you need to save it as a different pic then the original for it to work for some reason.

mine is four months old and they look the same size in the above picture of yours that I posted but in your other pic, yours seems bigger if that is it on the left hand side of the cage. I got mine from FL Chams also and he is a pig now. Starting to look like a little green bubble with feet and ive only had him a few days. I think yours looks good but I dont know enough to say that with full confidence.

Lights should be housed OUTSIDE the cage
travis I think you are mistaking in sneaks picture some kind of plastic jug perhaps being used as a feeding cup as a light?

Looks about the size of mine now, mine is 2 months old. Hopefully he will continue to grow in your care, it would seem he hasnt been fed/cared for appropriately by the last owner.
If mine is anything to go by, he should be eating much more. Check the enviroment, prefrably with an accurate temp gun and adjust it accordingly weather that be up or down. Too warm=stress=wont eat well. not warm enough=low metabolism=wont eat well.

Not hydrated enough? =more problems. Check these things first. Otherwise he looks healthy enough to me. (note: my opinion is NOT intended as a substitute for veternary care or expert advice. Im a new to chams also, though not to reptiles.)
best wishes...

p.s cricket on the screen behind him in this pic http://s599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/Fortyo/?action=view&current=008-1.jpg looks a little on the biggish side? does he hesitate to zap them? perhaps you could try slightly smaller crix to encourage him. I havent found it nessesary to pull legs off crix myself, mine is happy to hunt. do you observe his eating/behaviour habits?

Mine is four months old and smashes at least 5 a day of what im guessing are 3/4 crickets if not larger (the ones in the bigger half at my local pet store) with no hesitation or problems. It only takes him slightly longer to get ready for his next one than it did when he ate 14 of the smaller crickets in one setting. I had to switch him up to larger. I may be tripping but the cricket in the pic isnt even as long as his chams head.

Were those pics taken at the same time? I swear in the close up he looks so much smaller than he does in the pic that it is climbing on the screen.

ok ya i have moved him up to the bigger crickets cuz he ate like 15 1/2size crickets the other day. ima take a new pic and put it up give me like 5mins
