Well, we got him home right at a week ago, the vet gave him an antibiotic shot, gave us some Sunshine Factor for his Vitamin A, Akwa to rinse his eyes, and an antibiotic to rinse them with... We had to give him a follow up shot this past weekend, and giving him water. We've been feeding him a liquid nutrient diet the vet gave us, as well as following with crickets etc. He still can't see, but is much more active, and clambering around a lot more. He's gotten much more of an appetite now, which makes me feel better.
I was wondering if anyone else had a chameleon that suffered from a vitamin A deficiancy, and how long the treatment lasted before they began showing signs of improvement. He was brought to the clinic two weeks ago, stayed there for a week, and has been home with us since.
Other than increase in appette and activity, no changes have occured with his eyes, it appears as though he's squinting, though it looks like there's something over his eye... The vet had removed debris, but said nothing about anything else. They wouldn't tell us what they thought his chances of recovery are...
Would his quality of life ever be close to how it was previously? Will his sight return to even a fraction of what it was before, will he be able to feed on his own? Would he still be able to enjoy everything the way he should, or is it just something that will stay almost the same? I don't want him to have an unsatisfying quality of life - I want him to be happy, any idea of how long before any improvement of his eyes will begin to show? Anything at all will be helpful... When he gets to where he can feed on his own again, we're going to get a dubia colony for him, and some juicy worms too. Thanks to everyone that helped out in my previous thread, If you want any pictures I'll take some tomorrow and post them.
