Charlie's Free Range

Hi guys !

I will present you the free range, what it became since I got charlie in january (he was 3months back then).

It is now composed of three main areas :




the main one : with plants and lamps, next to the radiator for winter.




The playground, and branch with view on the street, which he enjoys a lot





The outside nest :

It is suspended to the balcony above, and is great playground in summer, to get some real UV. It was before suspended with normal ropes, but after 2 impressive escapes, I changed them for strong fishing line, so he can't climb them out to the wall and wires anymore !

Yellow, I think he was too hot, I put him back inside.


As you can see, he can well climb on bricks...


And reach the cable ! Too late now...


crap he is High ! Fortunately he took a cable bringing him back to a neighbourg's balcony.

Haha that is insane! He just couldn't resist the big shiny wire! Awesome free range setup, how does he access water? And how much rent does he make you pay to stay in his apartment and use his bike?

I usualy make him drink by spraying mannually the plants. He doesn't drink often, but when he does it takes a while.

I think he is happy. He is getting more and more used to me. Not afraid anymore unless being caught on the ground or some unsafe place.


If I stand between the nest and the wire, he even runs on me, trying to reach the wire using my body !

I would FREAK out. That looks like a heart attack waiting to happen. What's going through your mind when you see him out on the cable like that?

wow, is it just me but I see that freerange to be completely dangerous You look to be high up and I doubt if he fell he would survive a fall like that.

It is scary to think of a fall but realistically dont chameleons spend their entire lives that high up in the wild. I'm sure his boy appreciates the freedom he gets, rather than being stuck in a cage all day. Gotta say, i did a double take when i saw him on the cable. I was like whaaat?!?

yeah but in the wild they don't have concrete underneath them when they fall. they have dense leaves to break most of the fall.

I was thinking the same thing!!! That free range is just too risky for me! Not to mention he could get picked off by a bird!

amen...i would lose my mind and possibly my life trying to monkey across the cable to get him haha. too scary for me

Well, after I tuned the outside set up correctly, he was quite safe in there, and he could enjoy a lot of real sun !
Some other pictures of him of this summer :

I had to leave Canada though, so he is now in someone's else care.
She tried to have him enclosed again but finally she free ranged him too because he was too much of a roamer ! She used the same setup and fortunately Charlie could keep his favorite Ficus on which he spent everynight.

She had a female for him and so I received some nice pictures of him seducing her. He should become a dady in a few months.

Dunno when I ll have my next cham, but pbly not while I m in Paris. I ll wait and see !
