It's foul smelling and a persistent irritant to mucous membranes and eyes.
Suh-weet!So while visiting Janet, I knew I was in prime area for Megaphasma denticrus. I went out on a midnight scavenger hunt with Janet and came back with five females and one male. They are absolutely huge. I have bought them their own reptibreeze enclosure. Today I was replacing their branches and decided to see if I had any eggs yet. I got up to 200 and stopped counting because I was no where close to the end. That was only about 1/4 of the floor of their cage.
They are monsters. They strip down oak like it's chocolate. They apparently have very short lifespans which is why they lay eggs in such mass volume. I figure I will give them another week to do their thing, then I will feed off the adults.
I gave one to Naga today. He went bananas for it. So I guess it will be a good food item for my big guys.
Sorry for the crappy pics, but they don't stay in one place very well!
