Hi
I have a brand new baby veiled chameleon and she seems to be acting a little strange. I had a chameleon a few years ago that ended up dying because he was sick . I was hoping that you guys might be able to answer a few questions that I had.

First off with her eating habits she started out eating 2 maybe 3 cricket a day but now she's gone down to eating 1 every other day. The crickets are small in size and are or just regular crickets I gut fed them with carrots and celery. She drinks perfectly fine and is having proper bowel movements.
I do handle her a lot but she seems to enjoy it whenever I walk past the terrarium she stands up and reaches out for me. I open the doors and put my hand in and she walks right to me, when it comes time to go back in her home she doesn't want off my hand.
The one thing I notice that is strange though is that she is digging. A lot. My last chameleons was a boy so I'm mot accustomed to the habits of a little girl. But she is just a baby. Is this normal?

if she is digging she might be pregnant, if you dont get them someplace to put there eggs they will become eggbound and die

Oh my! I just got her two weeks ago I kind of just assumed she was too young to lay eggs. When she lays them what do I do with them? They can't be fertelized she's never been with a male, right? So if I go tomorrow and buy maybe a storage bin and fill it halfway with sand and leave it uncovered shoulde that work for her?

There are a few different factors that can explain the digging (too hot, cage too small, etc.) that we would need to know before giving you the proper advice on why she is digging. If she is a baby (1 - 4 months) she shouldn't be developing eggs yet, but it has been known to happen. Please fill in the form and we can go from there!
