I thought since I'm new here, I would show off some chins!
My Delilah

Norry 5 days before she had triplets.

What a lovely family of chins you've got! They are gorgeous - I love Delilah, she's so beautiful! We used to breed chins and had a pair that produced triplets too. We called the babies Cookie, Frisbee & Ruffle! There's nothing quite as cute as a baby chinchilla!! (Apart from baby chameleons, of course!)

Chris Anderson has some of those he breeds on a small scale. He cuddles with them at night when noone else will.

My first chinchilla loved her cuddles so much that she'd fall asleep in my arms!! I just love the way they lean right over when you tickle them under their chins!! I miss having chinchillas, but chameleons don't make anywhere near as much mess!

I've actually been breeding the chinchillas for longer then I have been working with chams. I bred my first chins when I was in 2nd grade (like 17 years ago now). My oldest chin that I have at the moment is 14 years old. I enjoy the genetics and color mutations with them.

I enjoy the genetics/mutations too! I have a little over 100+ chins, how many do you have? I have a few 8/9 year olds.

WOW.

How are their personalities? I have considered getting a chin or two. I love bunnies and have had house rabbits for most of my life; are chins comparable?

I only have two breeding pairs and a 14 yo retired female (grandmother to some of my current breeders) anymore. I gave the rest of my chins to my youngest sister. She breeds them as well now. She has another 6 or so but only one pair she's currently breeding. Our lines include bloodlines from Europe, Florida, New York and Texas and as it turns out, it appears we have long furred genes from either our European or Texas bloodlines. I'm not sure if they are the same genes as the Royal Persian Angoras or not but interestingly, those animals originated from a breeder in Texas too.

Very interesting. My daughters have a chinchilla. But they are going away to college soon so I guess I'll have a chinchilla soon. I think she's 3 or 4.
