Chomp!

Just out of curiosity, how hard is the bite of a Panther Chameleon? Do they bite and hold on or release. I see people wearing gloves for full grown Chameleons and Ousalets.

Haha. Sorry. some people wear glvoes because their chams bite hard.
they can make you need stitches.

I have been bit by Calais my panther, it was not pretty. He is the friendliest panther out there, but if you wake him up you better be wearing Teflon! He left a pretty good bloody chomp mark in my hand, and even after putting on leather gloves it hurt like a mother!

Oouch!

Guess it depends how manly you are. :p

I am no stranger to pain with many broken bones and a joint replacement in my younger days. I am not looking to do a "JACK ASS" rerun and wind up with a cut that needs stitches. HA! I treat him like a dog by keeping it flat so he has nothing to bite. I didn't realize they could bite that hard. He is only 9 months old and I wouldn't think he could inflict that much damage. I have never seen a full grown one in person. I guess they have a pretty large bite. Thanks for the reply. If I decide to make a video I will post it.

Oh my god. THAT looks nasty! That little female veiled did THAT???
yup a little female veiled...

Jack Ass The movie continues!

If you are going to offer up your finger as a worm "PLEASE" get it on video!! This way I can LMAO and see what I am in store for. I figure its only a matter of time before I get CHOMPED ON!

The older I get, the less I like to get hurt. I have found that there is only ONE thing that hurts me.........PAIN. I do my best to avoid it and believe me when I tell ya that the older you get.........the longer it takes to get over something that back in "younger years" would have been healed in a few days.

Sometimes getting old sucks..........but the alternative is much worse. ;)

My panthers never bit me but i let my male veiled el grumpo bite me once to feel the power of his bite and it hurt with my male vieleds i have to wear gloves to hold them but my others i dont. My outsalate never bit me nor do i want to find out cause he is a very big boy and he has a big mouth!!!

Boy, that old thread was an eye opener!

I too thought 'its just a little cammie...they can't hurt much, right?' Plus Shayna did get me once when I was medicating her sore arm and I laughed at her for it. I've been bitten by a macaw and know what a bite can do.

I think that thread is a reminder that a bite from any animal no matter how small, can be quite consequential!

I think anything with a mouth when it really wants to will find a way to do damage-as much as they possibly can.
