Hi

Following the advice some guys on here have given me i have completely changed my setup.

However,

Kermy is now sat in the warmest part of her enclosure with her mouth gaping.
Temp there is about 85.

If she is too warm why doesnt she just move to a cooler place?

Im very confused!

Thanks

Her mouth being open does not always mean she is too hot. My jacksons will do this when he is ticked off at me. His mom would do the same thing.

How are you measuring your temps? Have you put your hand in the basking spot for a few minutes to see how hot your hand gets? Try raising the lamp for a day or two and see what happens. I'm thinking she's still too hot. I put a 15w bulb in my lamp and rested it on a table, then put the thermometer under it at the same distance as it would be in the cage. My baby kept gaping with a 60 w. A lot depends on the ambient temp of the room also. If she is in the line of a window where she gets heat from the sun through the window part of the day, that could affect her temps.

A huge change could often upset her and stress her out as well, even if it is for the better. She doesnt know that.
