At what age should I start cup feeding my veiled? Ive had him for about 6 weeks and im guessing he is at least 3-4 months old. he is extremely grumpy and doesnt like me putting my hand in his cage so i hope this will lighten him up.

You should be able to cup feed him now, just make sure it is deep enough for the crickets to stay in but shallow enough for his tongue.

Yup no reason he wont eat from the cup now. Its a good idea to use a clear cup so he can see the feeders in there. He'll most likely shoot the cup a few times before he realizes he has to go to the open part to actually get the food. If hes anything like my little guy, after a while he'll sit by the cup whens he hungry and beg for food :D

i know its good exercise for him to hunt but cup feeding will make him more friendly. plus he makes it hard for me to clean his cage , being so aggressive and im scared i stress him out trying to clean his cage. he won't let me handle him

I wonder if it's good to do both? Let a couple of feeders in "free range" and after they get snagged, put the cup in with the rest of the meal?

I also don't know why cup feeding would make the animal more friendly. I would think hand feeding could have that effect, but I assume the animal does not do the math and realize the human put the cup in the cage.

My started cup feeding at about 4 months. Currently tho I am free roaming the crickets and only cup feeding worms.

I don't know how cup feeding is going to make him more friendly. :confused:

i usually put 4 crickets in so she can hunt them but if i dont see her drinking i will put 2 crickets in a jelly pot filled with water and she will take them with the water
its a good trick so they get a bit of moisture

i MADE MY OWN CUP USING TWO PLANTERS CUPS ONE REGULAR AND ONE upside down so the bugs couldn't crawl out then cut a large hole in the bottom and put mesh so the water could drain right thorough when i have the misting system on..

if your veilds making it hard for you to clean his cage id stick to hand feeding just keep trying it until he gets used to it then you can tempt him on to your hand and bring out the cage while you clean it. im doin this with my 3-4 month panther it onli took a couple of days for him to figure out that my
hand = food
