Anybody here know people who do custom screen cage local to my area (Los Angeles) that does not cost a ton?
Most are from Florida and sometimes the shipping is a Pain.
I know FLChams used to do it.. and the cage maker is local.
But, now there is no longer custom cage option on his site

Thanks in advance, people

Would you not be interested in DIY from Home Depot? They have all the aluminum edges and the screen. Not more is needed!!

Yes, Home Depot and Lowes carry everything you need. You will be surprised how much it costs to do the job yourself. What I mean by that is it isn't as cheap as you think it will be after you buy the screen, railing, spline, connector pieces, etc. Then you have to do all the labor of cutting and putting it together. But if you need something a certain size and can't find anybody to ship it to you, then this is an excellent way to go.

I agree with lancecham here! I was going to build one with the screen and metal frame and it will end up running you more then just getting a cage from LLL. Unless you do a wood frame, that may be a cheaper way to go.....

screencages.com do some nice work. you'd also be surprised with what you can do. i built my melleri a custom cage, and i think it looks pretty good. and it costs less than most custom cages.

I got mine from Mike at FL chams, its pretty nice, its in one of my posts under general photography if you wanna check it out,

i can help you with a wood frame screen design. but to do it right it takes a few weeks. my 24x36x48, is built around the largest plastic tub i could find. it cost about $80.00 american dollars. i would have built a alum screen setup but i dont like the oxidation water causes on alum and they are not very sturdy. on the other hand they are a lot lighter. my setup is about 43lb. bottom is poplar, rest of frame is built out of finish grade pine. both underwent marine sealing process. i have two diff screens one 8th" nylon mesh. second inside screen is .5" plastic screen. second screen is to keep his claws from snagging in .125" screen. top has .25" wire mesh so lights dont weaken or give of fumes. the drainage system works great i mist two times a day, 32oz. water each time. if you are interested i can make a layout, assembly and cut list for them. as far as tools all you will need, screw gun, screws, stapler(bostich heavy duty $16.00 at home depot.),.5" staples, utility knife and saw of some sort. if you choose alum screen you will need hack saw, spline roller, screw gun or hand driver, utility knife and possibly more. if you want to go furiture quality, i know a guy in sac that builds customs. but he is pricey.
