So I got bored and made a new background for the exo-terra I want to get set up ready for the arrival of my hatchlings. I was totally bored of the generic ones that come with the tanks so I went for something a little different.

what do you all think? Iv included a couple of plant "ledges" as im calling them to house some ivy and a pothos to let them trail down into the tank.

Looks awesome! I don't know the first thing about pygmies, so I can't say anything with much authority, but I think they're going to love it. Definately show us what it looks like as you start putting the plants in!

time and patience. it only took me 2 days to make once I had the materials. it cost me £20 ($35?) in total and I have loads of material left to make another one too.

now just trying to decide what to do wiht the rest of the foam i have left

Burn it! LOL

I made something similar for my Chilean Rose tarantula, pink panther closed cell foam sculpted and then coated in pre-mixed "Floor Patch" (in USA) cement spackling material. With water, a stiff paintbrush and a plastic knife you can make smooth rounded sections, cracks and stipple pattern on the "rock" and really go wild sculpting and making it fancy. Instead of painting it I used colored craft sand sold for kids school diorama projects to sprinkle all over the cement to give it a rough texture and the colors I wanted. Here's a pic, sorry there no chameleons in there!

Taz that looks great, i like the ledges for potted plants, such a cool feature! Adding height for the chams without having to plant in tall plants :D

More space for all them eggs to be laid ;)

cheers guys! i had a disaster! I set the tank up put all the plants, chams in, misted and the pva melted! fuming to say the least! had to re-strip it all and try to wash all the ova off before going out and buying some expensive waterproof (Fingers Crossed!)

the backgrounds look awesome, how come you chose Grout instead of concrete/quickcrete, personal preference?
