Darn Crickets

I just keep glue traps everywhere. Although most of my crix end up in the bathroom for some reason. I'm telling you the trap there is proper mingin:D

I'm so glad to hear that other people have crickets everywhere - my cats just watch them go by now . . . but I've tried all sorts of things, which help somewhat, but a few always escape . . . now I don't feel like such an incompetent cricket person!

Sonny, here are pictures you requested on dusting crickets on your pm to me ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363741835.809186.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363741851.439261.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363741885.831463.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363741905.489614.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363741924.932823.jpg
I put crickets in the shaker, pour the powder over them, shake the shaker over a Tupperware container so as not to waste any of the supplement, then simply put them into a feeder cup or just inside the cage. I can re use the supplement until its gone so no waste!.
I have a large cricket tub so they very seldom get away! I don't like them getting loose as my wife makes me hunt them down in the middle of the night to stop them from chirping!!! :<) After many years of keeping herps at home I have learned how to keep the peace if you know what I mean!!!! Happy wife and happy me, I get to keep more herps that way!!! If you need more pictures or info pm me again and I will try to help

How interesting. I love the shaker idea.. I think I'll steal that one. I ordered my zoomed 12 oz calcium today from amazon so it should be here by friday.. No more freaking liquid calcium! Yeehoo

yes liquid cal SUCKS as far as the use of it, it's a pain in the rear end to use!!!:D

Do you think it would be safe to just use my d3 on like 2 crickets out of the 6 or 7 he normally eats until the cal gets here? I am sick and tired of the liquid one, or should I stick with plain old non d3 cal (will a little d3 hurt him)?

How long have you been using cal with d3? It might be better to use nothing at all until you get some cal without d3. It would be helpful to know exactly what, how much and how long you have been using suppliments. It also would help to know more about your cham, lighting you are using etc.You probably have posted it before but I do not remember ? There is many different opinions about suppliments and you will need to decide for your self. I use a multi vitamin 2 times per month, cal with d3 2 times per month, vitamin a 1-2 times per month and cal without d3 for most of the other feedings.I only dust my crickets as all the other feeders are not dusted.Oh I forgot to mention all my feeders get the same suppliments in there food that I dust with!!! That being said ALL my feeders are gut loaded to the MAX with fresh & frozen and thawed fruits and veggies as well as a dry mix I make my self much like sandrachameleon has posted on her page. The better the uv lighting, the better the gut loading the less suppliments needed ( IMHO ) and it is harder on your chams to have to much suppliments as it can cause organ damage!!! I say again this is just in my humble opinion and others may think differently!!!

I use the correct amount of supplements, chill out :p

I haven't used d3 this month at all, so I thought maybe lightly d3 his crix over like 3 days. Like 2 crickets out of the 8-6 he eats over each day.

I haven't given him d3 this month is my point

I also have crickets hopping all over my house too..one or two seem to get away in transfer from cage or container However currently, they seem to gravitate to the front door, get chilled and make it easy for me to pick up with my fingers..however I am worried that neighbors might think I have a roach problem, so I have to be vigilant about hunting crickets just inside my doorway. I don't mind crickets but I would not willingly bring a roach into my house, even if my Chams would appreciate them. However, some crickets are just too quick for me to catch and get away. My cats are bored with them already. So now I am thinking about making a cricket catching machine..good idea? heh?
I have some ideas but now I need to work on a prototype. I've checked google and so far cant find one already created..so I just bet if I figure it out, I will have some willing buyers wanting it.
Stay tune for updates!

I use a little tubaware that I have the calcium in it and i sake them up so they get dizzy and it works good but a few still escape.:D

You can try a few things...
1) (takes long) but grab the cricket by its leg and wiggle it until its leg comes off and do the same for its other leg, then grab it and fee it to your Cham.
2) grab it between its leg (by its back body) and fee it to your Cham.
3) squeeze the head gently (so its stunned) then grab it by its leg. It will be half dead at this point. Then you can easily grab it by its leg and it will still move but won't move enough to break its own leg.
4) just poor the crickets in the enclosure. Don't worry about hand feeding. Let your Cham hunt for them
