I had a quick question for you. Can filters and flash gels be used in the contest?
I just picked up a few filters and some gels last week, and they definitely add a nice touch to the phots.

Comparing the original size of each image can also help and is recommended.

a little advice...the camera does not make the photographer. You have to have an eye that is aware of depth of feild, lighting, focus points and timing to capture the right shot. Anyone can shoot a gun...doesn't mean they will hit their target. same goes for photography.

True
but being aware of depth of field, lighting, focus and shutter speed isnt all that useful if your camera doesnt allow you to alter/control them! My point and shoot is auto only - I can not adjust aperture, shutter or focus.

Maybe I'll buy myself a new camera for christmas

How long have you been a forums member? Before you can vote you have to be a member for so long....not sure about the time and receive some reputation, I think. Jann

I'm surprised with the Christmas season upon us that no one tried putting a Santa hat on their chameleon, or a chameleon in a Christmas tree or something.....? Would have gotten us into the Christmasee mood a bit.

I was really tempted by the melleri. It's a pretty good picture and the subject is awesome. I ended up voting for another image which I felt had a better quality image than the mellers (subject's appearance nearly full body and good backdrop). I only voted as such because I've heard the number of comments by past judges who mentioned those items among others... then I thought "which image would I prefer to see on my wall for a month?"

BTW - Carolen - I almost considered putting my Jackson in our Fir tree for a photoshoot, but I was concerned about the sap irritating him, so I skipped out on the contest this month all together.

Won't let me vote either lol I woulda voted for Mt Otto photo, seems to be the best photo IMO, even thoug I'm a bit partial to Panthers myself
