decided on a jacksons!!

So I was debating on a panther or a jacksons and finally decided on the jacksons because it is more in my budget and because it was the chameleon that got me interested when I saw a jacksons at a pet store when I was like 6 years old and I had wanted a chameleon since. But one quick question, where would be the best most reliable (live delivery, healthwise, correct sexing) place to order one from. Also what subspecies of jackson have members found to be the most rewarding to care for

Im pretty sure JoeG still has a captive born male for sale. Its a jacksonii jacksonii. I got a male from him and its beautiful!! Jacksons are quite a bit different in care than panthers so you will need to fine tune your set up to make sure the humidity and temps are in check for the species.

Thats a good choice though!! My first was a jacksonii xanth. I had panthers after and the jacksons was so much cooler!! Buy captive bred or born when possible though. The species isnt the easiest and wild caught imports can be tough to acclimate.

Okay and I was NOT at all planning on getting a wc. I was searching through the reptile websites and like 90% of the jacksons were wc. But I am going to build the little guy a 2x2x4 screen cage and put a schefflera arboricola in his cage. The basking temp will be like 80 f and the ambient will be around 74ish. Night temp will be65-70. I am gunna get a buncha vines for the cage too and also build a bigg outdoor cage:) so stoked for when I get him this summer

I just got a jacksonii xanth. from Lancecham (I had purchased my panther from him about 4 months befor). I'm very happy with both.

I also agree with cain those jacksonii jacksonii are very nice looking, abit more pricey but also less commonly found CB.

I'd definitely buy from a breeder on here (as opposed to a pet shop, random web site etc.) I've only bought from lance so can't speak to all the breeders but he's been top notch, but a lot of them post so you get a good idea about them.

first off were are you from??? Jacksons are an awesome choice and in my opinion are a great starter off for chameleons owners. They were my first cham ever and I love them and can't waite to get a new pair. when i was in the military most of my buddies loved holding them and checking them out and they never stressed i think they are one of the hardiest when it comes to handling them. but out of all the chams i've had nothing ate more than jacksons so look out on that. telling the sex is pretty easy dude male have 3 horns most females none but there is a type of jackson that have one horn i believe. try asking or looking at a reptile store near you first then i'd go online if my search was a no go. or you can find a breeder in our forums on chams for sale. good luck you made an awesome choice.

iowa. And I now think I am going to be getting the jacksons either this summer or next and a panther this summer or next. There are no pet stores around where I live with jacksons. There used to be but it closed down unfortunately. I don't think them eating a lot will cause too many problems because I'm gunna get some dubias and start a colony possibly and have a few hundred crickets and try silk/horn worms too

You might try a couple of Dubias before trying to start a colony. I have an old adult female Jacksons and she eats Dubias with no problem, but my juveniles act like they don't know what they are.

Congrats. I'd try flchams.com, looks like they have a pretty good selection and they have a good age group!

I think I've decided on a Jacksons as well, I'll be getting mine in the fall. I also have a panther, it'll be interesting to see the differences between the breeds.

COngrats :D

I have a veiled right now. And I was going to get one of the 5 month olds because they are one of the few who don't have only wc's or only adults. Plus they have a good rep on delivering them alive and healthy

Thats my thinking as well...they have them at a good age where they aren't so fragile. I'm not really into the wild caught ones, I find it silly to keep catching them. Good luck! I'm getting a jacksons next and eventually a veiled...you can't just have one!

True that! I'm gunna get the jacksons this summer in like july or early august. Then am holding out until next summer to get a panther

First I am getting a Jacksons in like July, Augest. Same as u. Then Ill make up my mind from there. Jacksons are going to be my first so if I like them then mabye I will move on to a panther I love there colours.
