hey all...just browsing the forums and looking at diet for my new ambilobe,,,
i am currently feeding

crickets,. gutloaded with "total bites" by nature zone...the green jello looking stuff...about 12-15 crickets in the morning...

meal worms,....not sure what to gut load these with but he loves to eat them....about 5-6 day

daily misting 2-3 times for about 2-3 minutes and a dripper (bottle w holes) that runs for a couple hours while im at work,.,,,,

anything else i am missing...

i have read that d3 should be given 2x a month....i am dusting the crickets currently with repashy superfoods calcium plus (vitamin and calcium supplement) with each feeding. he is indoors with a 5.0 uvb.

any further insight is appreciated.

I would try and get your hands on some other feeders too. crickets are fine as staple but a lot of people here don't like mealworms or superworms because they're high in fat/too hard for chams to digest. I suggest giving hornworms, silkworms, dubias, small katydids, baby mantises, anything you can get your hands on as a treat. :)

Otherwise I think you're good

I would gutload your crickets with fresh fruits and vegetables and ditch the cricket bites. I have always fed superworms which can be gutloaded just like crickets(they eat everything) and have never had a problem with digestion. As long as you mix in some soft bodied feeders, such as silks, or hornsworms along with the supers, you should be fine.

I agree with the advice to improve gutloading.

A variety of feeders is important - so you'll want to move beyond just crickets and mealworms. I also would use fewer mealworms overall unless you start combining with a lot of soft bodied prey.

Which type of Repashy C+ do you have? the low D or regular? If regular, I wouldn't use that daily (despite what the label says). Instead, reduce to once a week and use a phosphorous free and vitamin free calcium powder the rest of the time, as needed (according to the prey type - mealworms and crickets should be dusted almost always, but other feeders like butterworms or terrestrial isopods do not need calcium supplementsdusted on them)

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely get some other feeders to give him a variety. I will also get the regular calcium.
I will try gut loading with fruits veggies too. I think that will help the other lizards as well.....
