Digital timer for lights

Hi all
I have my uv and dl1 thermostat plugged in to an extension lead then it's plugged into a timer which was set 7:30 am on and 7:30pm off . It would go off on time but I would find it cami on early (not sure how early) so I changed it from the old peg style to a new digital one which I tested with a table lamp , but still came on earlier than set ! Any ideas or help would be great ?
Both uv and thermostat come on so it can't be a setting on those ?! I've changed timer can't both be faulty ?! Is there something that could over ride my timer ?!

Many household plug in timers don't switch on or off at the exact times set. They are supposed to make it look like someone is actually home for security's sake, so they don't want to be completely predictable. They build in a little variation. If its only 5-10 minutes or so it won't really matter in the larger scheme of things.
