can diseases be caught from chams? because i am concerned if i get a cham i will be infected. please help.

Gus the bus,
Chams can have parasites and bacteria like all reptiles. Most fecals can rule out most parasites. Just wash your hands if you handle your friend. Most parisites are only transmited via fecal matter ingestion. There are no known airborn diseases to worry about

The most common infection humans acquire from reptiles is Salmonellosis, but this can easily be prevented by handwashing. There are other more serious diseases, but many only infect those who are immunocompromised (like young children and sick elderly).

The link below is more descriptive, but you should keep in mind that 99% of you not catching a disease from you chameleon is good sanitation: Don't kiss or lick the lizard and wash your hands (with soap) EVERY time you touch it or anything in or around it's cage.

Just to add a little to the discussion, you want to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. I would suggest this before and after handling. Most people do not spend enough time on this simple task, but most tests show that 20 seconds is effective in preventing the spread of most debris and bacteria.

Oh crap. We aren't supposed to lick them?;)

No, but do you ever clean up cham poop and then go eat some Doritos? Just saying, it is a good idea to wash your hands anyway. Why take chances?

well my chams all refuse to poop where i see it, and i dont really clean it up since its never there..so ha. ;)

Though I do wash after touching the bugs.
