The Rubbermaid may work perfectly to place some potted plants in! I haven't gotten there yet, but good call

You'll definitely want live plants or this cage will be pretty hard to keep humid enough. You could get a nice large bushy plant (like a big Schefflera) and set the pot in the Rubbermaid. I'd suggest not using a plant pot saucer and raising the pot up on something slightly so it doesn't sit directly in the water. That will drown your plant roots.

Sounds like a good idea that I may very well try out. But one ? How sturdy is the structure as a whole? And what kind of adhesive would be best to attatch fine screening where you have mesh?

It is pretty sturdy, PVC doesn't come apart or break very easily. I think using an adhesive would be a little too messy for this. If I used a finer screen, I would probably have tied it to the pvc with skinny metal wire.
