ok, well, I sure have the babies now- lol should I thin out the bin, I STILL have eggs hatching - and it is getting a little crowded in there - will they eat each other ? I am guessing over 1,200 are in there now- and still going - I was thinking it may be a good idea to remove what I can encase I get a fungus or something ? in the dirt, I dont want the whole batch to die off- you can see how crowded they are getting in the pic- but I already learned 2 things- baby crickets can not be picked up- they are mushy, and NEVER stick your arm in there when wearing a brown fuzzy sweater - they stick right to it :p how do I get them out, and leave the dirt/eggs ??

Set an egg crate on top of the dirt. They will start to climb in it. After a while, you will see a lot of them on the egg crate. Now it is easy to remove them.

I will have them read this- that is what I am trying , but the wont get on :p I am going to try little blobs of shredded paper too- see if they wont get on those- the dirt is starting to smell funny- that is why I want to move them out of it - but I see no mold or anything like that

ty for you help :)

LOL. You can keep the crickets basically dry. with some dry food. Just remove all the wet food before it goes bad. You won't get mold :)
It is not too crowded. They won't eat each other if they have other food that is easier to catch. they are not really predators :)

should I just let the other eggs dry out and die off ? that is why I keep watering it - they just keep hatching -
they way those dang things go after sleeping chams, I did not know if they would "turn" on each other -
I am feeding them the cricket mix I saw on ( I hope I am not wrong on the name..) sandrachameleo's post, they love it, but I was not sure how much it made - HA - I had 9!! gallons of it- so I put it in 1 gal zip locks, and just break off chunks of it - works great :D

If you want more hatching then keep it moist. I think you are unlikely to get mold. Keep watch and remove it if you see any.....should be fine. When the crickets get bigger it'll be easier to transfer them into separate boxes. They won't eat each other (much :)).

I think you will want to keep the dirt moist for their first 2 weeks of life. The little ones need a higher humidity to molt and grow.

I am on my 4th generation in the same bin and I do not have any mold or bad smell.

ok - I will do what you guys said - I am going to start another batch JUST IN CASE I need them :D ( next project is going to be to give fruit fly a go :p)
