Does Bean have MBD??!!!

Lights off for now. Let her rest since it’s night.
Thank you. I’m super scared she’s nit going to make it until Monday. I’ve been crying the last 2.5 hours as we just found out he’s a she. If we would’ve known, this could’ve been prevented. Now I feel I may have killed her & broke my daughters heart on her 15th bday. 💔😩😢💔

This is not on you. Without being in the hobby you would have no reason to think the information you were given was wrong. You likely did everything you believed to be correct.

The situation is rough, but it is quite possible for her to dump the eggs and pull through.
I am near Portland OR as well.
for now let’s hope she makes it and when she does we will get you on the right path.

If she's too weak to hold onto the branches then she's too weak to dig a hole and lay the eggs. I'm sure she has MBD. Sadly when they are as round/plump as your girl is, they usually have problems laying their eggs because they are eggbound. The only chance she has is to get to a vet before she's so weak that this can't survive the surgery to remove the eggs and treat the MBD.

She is too weak. I’m hoping she has enough strength for one more night & get her in 1st thing in the am.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I think she’s too weak & may not make it until morning. I’m just heartbroken beyond words. I feel betrayed & sad for my daughter. I can’t do it get in anywhere until the early am.

If you literally can’t find a vet until Monday. Get the lay bin going and make sure she’s hydrated. She’s in a really dire situation but she might be able to make it til Monday. Make sure the appointment is super early. Sooner is better than later.
Lay bin is in her cage & now we wait. I’ve been non stop calling EVERY ONE to get her in. No one can see her because no vets are in that specialize in reptiles. I may be screwed & will loose her I’m afraid.

She’s too weak I believe to dump them. I dug a hole but seemed like she didn’t want to be in it & was trying to crawl out of it last night. We are in the Aloha/Hillsboro area. We are a wreck.

I am so very sorry that you are going through this. I would prepare for the worst. If she can not support herself than it is very doubtful she will be able to lay the eggs.

Try this resource to see if there is anyone near you that could treat her. https://arav.site-ym.com/search/custom.asp?id=3661
You are now at the point of emergency surgery to spay her. But this is not easy on them either and they have a low recovery rate with this as well.

Thank you for all your help. I literally have been in the phone leaving messages with EVERY single vet I can. And I get turned down or am on a wait for them to call me back. I think that’s what we are trying to do, prepare right now. Today is my daughters 15th bday. So this is the worst.

I am a mother of a 17 year old so I can totally understand what your going through. :(

I’m just so sad that we didn’t know. And I can’t do anything about it. She’s so devastated. Bean is still alive this am. I still think she’s too weak to lay her eggs. This was ALL so preventable if we were told the right information. Losing her isn’t going to be good. Losing any pet is NEVER good. 💔

I know and these are the threads we dread as well. So little we can do to help new keepers when it is a female at this point. It is so very common for people to get the incorrect info when they buy chameleons. They are sold the wrong stuff and the info online is hit or miss if it is actually correct.

FYI them dying is not a pretty thing to watch. For your daughters sake I wanted to give you the heads up. It is not like with a mammal where they just look like themselves after they pass away. So you may not want your daughter to see her when this point comes.

Again I am so sorry that both of you are going through this. Should you decide to get another. We can help get you on the right track with care so that this does not happen again.

I’ve had a leopard gecko pass away on me due to misinformation. So I understand the situation, I hope the best for bean.

Thank you!! Her dad is picking her up today so I kinda hope she goes after that if that makes sense. Want to protect her as much as possible. I’m just so heart broken about this. I appreciate

Hopefully bean survives. If not it’s a harsh lesson learned.

There’s a lot of harsh lessons in reptile keeping. I started keeping reptiles when I was 12 and now I’m 17. Such a rewarding hobby but it has its sad moments. I just hope bean makes it 🙏

I hope she does as well. I’m just being realistic. Thank you for the support
