Where are you buying it from what company ?
Hey Seb, looks great to me......not long till he arrives!......Are you still calling him Reptar?
I'm getting a 5 month male veiled chameleon. He arrives on Wednesday hopefully. So excited
go on your tube and find my videos thats where i got mine from ! The username on youtube is Litldevlbmx666 there is 3 videos my first one cut out and if you watch the other two it might give you some tips......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzuUH5uIeD0
All of their chams come with a little thing of 20 butter worms and I think that is really cool. But this weekend is the reptile swap by my house I will be getting cricket and silk worms and hornworms. Hopefully the little guy likes the green monsters haha. I like Chamalot Chameleons as well and they are located in Florida as well as The Chameleon Company. I have never bought anything from the Chameleon company but the owners are very nice and will take time out of their day to answer and questions you might have. I have done biz with Dez from Chamalot Chameleon I had a BEAUTIFUL cam from her but he passed away when I put him into a bigger cage due to to much stress. He didnt like it very much as I always found him on the floor of the new cage. But my cham I got from chameleon northwest is doing very good but he is very timid.
Good work Seb. Best of luck with your new cham 2moro. I'm sure he will love his new home.
Im not sure how large or old the cham you are getting is?. Assuming it's young, it may have trouble finding its food in all that dense foliage while other chams will do absolutly fine hunting. If your cham is anything like mine when he was young he will do much better with a cricket cup that will hold their prey in one place. Obviously there are pros and cons to doing this but it will deff help make sure hes getting enough food while hes young and growing. But the leaves will deff be great for maintaining humidity.
Then you can work your way up to hand feeding. In my opinion the coolest thing about owning a chameleon.
Anyway hope this helps. And congrats on your new friend.
BTW love the name reptar for a cam.!!
Looks like mine. I have a ficus though. Lol I'm also getting a vieled from Chams NW, but a female. Lol also my first reptile/chameleon.
Everyone has already said so but it needs to be said again!!! Very nice job on the new set up, your Cham should be very happy in it!!!
Damn actually thank you for reminding me. I have to do that. I completely forgot to do that. I also have to wash my branches just incase. They were in plastic bags but I want to be on the safe side. I heard if you bleach the branches that's the best thing to do. As for my plants I am going to trim them just a little bit and then I am going to wash them about 2 times each. I am also going to clean my cage just incase if anything happened and possibly change the soil too.
I cook my branches in the oven at 250 for about 15-20 minutes, not sure that it is hot enough to do any good but it makes me feel better!!!
