Don't you get annoyed when...

You have a few years of experience under your belt and you come across something your not familiar with, so you post about it in a forum, and you have newbies barking down your throat stating facts they've "heard" or read about thinking they're experts.

I've rarely had it happen here, but most often on other forums. Don't you think that's annoying? It's like "Durr, i have 3 years under my belt compared to your 3 months. Shut up." lol

And this goes for anything. Chameleons, snakes, crafts, cabinetry, music, etc.

Yes, but as long as the information is correct, why should it matter who says it?

It matters when the person stating the information doesn't even have enough experience to follow the information themself and is stating it to someone with plenty of experience who already knows the information and may or may not follow it because of personal preference or situation.

I just find it annoying, and i know for a fact other people have had the same experiences. I want people to vent with me :) lol

For example (this is what set me off):

Horse people

Roundpenning is a training technique associated with submission. When the horse changes direction, they should turn toward you, not away from you. This means they acknowledge you. This one horse I'm working with always turns away, and ive been working with her for over a year. She's a great horse, but always turns away and i can't for the life of me, get her to turn towards me. I posted this in a horse forum, and i have all these people that have barely been riding a couple months jumping down my throat about how roundpenning is an extensive training tool and shouldn't be abused, yadda yadda....really got me fired up -.-

Ah, that makes more sense xD Haha. Usually, i'm just dealing with people saying how aggressive reticulated pythons are, and how they're going to eat me. OH, and how they get to be 30ft...haha. My retics are calmer than any snake I've ever had..bwahahaha. I generally have to leave the computer, because their ignorance kills me so bad.

Only reason I brought up it being right info, is I research extensively on any animal I bring home animals, and often times, people call me a 'know it all' because they don't feel like I can give them adequate advice if I haven't owned...fun fact, I have mentors for just about any reptile around XD So yeah

There will always be those who are great at regurgitating something they've read...but never get to the point where they really understand what they read.

Sometimes its due to newbie fervor
Sometimes its because some people don't really learn a piece of information until they pass it on
Sometimes its due to a knee jerk reaction to anything they don't like
Sometimes its due to living on a far away planet

Seems like the forum goes through cycles...for several weeks there will be new members who really seem to come out of left field on every post. Then they either settle in with acceptable information, lurk, or leave.

yeah, ona completley different thing I've actually had someone saying to me that they would have to interpret for me due to my not knowing any BSL and the patient that we were dealing with only used Sign language as a means of communication and the nurse saying this had been studying for 10 weeks (I am a fully Qualified BSL interpreter ) I had a nice laugh to myself as she tried to talk to the guy using all the wrong signs. Bearing in mind i'd been phoned in to interpret lol

This is one of the things that bothers me about the internet. Only a small percentage of "experts" on most forums are experts- the rest are just vocal regurgitators of information they have read somewhere but without even enough experience or understanding to comprehend the limits of that information's application in a real world setting...

So you get some 12 year old on one month who needs help with every facet of husbandry (or whatever) and then 6 months later the kid knows everything and is regurgitating "facts" like they are written in stone.
