Ive been having a lot of crickets laying upside down twitching unable to get up. Is dry bug burger not very good?? The cage temp is kept between 72-78. Cricket hotel is maintenanced twice a day. Thanks for your help! :D

I use dry bug burger too but sometimes my crickets will also be lying upside down twitching. I get mine from petsmart in small batches (30 crickets) so that could be the problem. I've had to take a batch back before and exchange for some new ones and they were fine after that. I don't think it's the bug burger. I keep my cricket keeper very clean and sometimes I will still find tiny flies in there! I'm not sure what the deal is to be honest...

Your best bet would be to go to walmart and buy a plastic tote bin and some metal screen and build your own cricket keeper. You want to cut a few big square holes on top of the lid and use hot glue to attach the screen to the lid. I made one about 4 months ago and I haven't had any problems with my crickets dying. I also use bug burger sometimes and haven't had any problems with them dying off. The key is you need good ventilation in your container and enough egg cartons for them to hide in. I also use paper towel rolls for them to hide in and there easy to get out when its time to take the crickets out to feed them off.

Large Lee's cricket keeper. Ive been buying 80 at a time. Humidity has been between 40-50 over the last few days.

Probably not enough ventilation and maybe overcrowding. Crickets die easily if it is too humid or if they are crawling all over each other. Those cricket keepers are really only good for small amounts of crickets. Add more egg crate or toilet paper rolls and increase ventilation.

This method of keeping crickets has worked well for me.

i keep about 80 crickets at a time large ones and i keep them in a 5 gallon glass fish tank w a screen top about 3 egg crates in side n pleanty of fresh fruits n bug burger w dino fuel for the feeder the next day. what i do is keep the large amount in the 5 gallon and the night b4 i take out his feeders n put them in a cricket keeper with lots of good stuff for them to eat so this way in the am they r nice n juicy for him same with the dubia. so i have 2 5 gallon tanks 2 cricket keepers and my 30 gallon roach motel n cricket motel in the same, and some how hardly any dead ones aorund. and as for the lil nats well they just come along with the fruits and the roaches if u have them lol  ive noticed the more u change there food the less the nats r there so now i change every day instead of every other day! :D

I only have upside down twichers when its time for the next batch. Durring the summer their life span is only 8-9 weeks, and if you get 3/4 inch ones they are all ready at week 6. And as others stated, vent vent vent. Your crickets should smell just as bad out side the cage as inside the cage, or they will stink themselves to death.
