duck tape

hey can i use duck tape on the inside of my chameleon cage to seal the screening so no crickets get out?

probably, the heat could melt that glue on it... or the water could make it run and drip onto a plant... idk... i'd use a glue gun as well.

I am not sure if duct tape is toxic at all, but do you really want to chance it? It smells like chemicals, isn't really that adhesive, will peel at the edges when exposed to water, and doesn't stick to screen well at all. It is also impossible to get all of the residue off of something it has been on.

Does that answer your question better?

...also, it is really ugly.

glue gun might crack over time.
Try silicone glue. But, you need an extra cage to keep your chameleon while waiting for it to dry and become odorless.

well actually i got some aquarium silicone that i just finished sealing the inside with, will that work for the screen too?

you gonna use it to glue the holes from the aluminum inline seaming, right?
If this is for the screen itself, then glue gun and silicone won't work, i guess.
For the screen, i use patches of screen, cloth.
If the holes are away from any heat source, i say use duct tape and tape it from inside the cage then use another tape to tape the outside.
So, there will be no sticky surface for your chameleon to get attached to.

If you are afraid of the toxic, you can use the artist masking tape (white one. Not the blue).

Silicone and hot glue will work fine on screen- use something to spread it over the rip in the screen in a flat way and it will patch it.

Scrape it on, I mean. It will work just fine.

do NOT use duct tape or any other type of tape.

i had an accident w/it; the humidity caused it to curl and detatch. one of my babies became completely stuck to it. i was afraid it would die - there was no way to remove the tape w/out ripping off the skin. most glue dissolvers are toxic (nail polish, rubbing alcohol, wd40, etc) and water wasn't doing the job. a friendly stranger suggested olive oil and it worked. the baby survived w/out injury but what a a trial. whew!

crazy story, good thing he survived.

I actually have a wooden cage, the screen is just stapled in on the inside. i just wanted to run tape along the sides so no crickets got out and to cover up the staples as well, but thats not important. will the glue and silicone still work on a wooden cage?

Yeah hot glue gun works great for the corners. This remindes me of a time when I had baby veileds. I bought 3 small ficus's, took out the old soil and replaced it, and placed it back in the old pot. You know the ticker for the price tag? After many mistings it came off a little I guess, and later on that day a baby was stuck to it:p:eek::( I wasn't that big of a deal, just though I would share. I recommend using nothing sticky;)
