A few weeks ago I decided to take in a female WC Ambilobe and had a few egg looking things coming out while pooping, so after careful consideration I decided to experiment with diet and egg production stimulation...and to my surprise heat+diet+"male flashing" definitely stimulates eggs production and she has laid 22 "small" yet very healthy looking eggs. Without counting the other 5 that came out while pooping.
Which means while being transported she was producing eggs and god knows for how long she was "ready" to lay. This makes me wonder, do chameleons in the wild reabsorb eggs if the "right" situation doesn't present itself? or do they die eggbound like in most captive cases.
Regardless, I can't wait to see what comes out of these mystery eggs.
First is Clio (WC Ambilobe), hating the camera.
And the 22 eggos...
