'Eggs' white worm, parasites or mites

Upon checking a clutch that has been incubating for almost 8 months an egg is turning brown and on that egg small white moving things! Are they worms, parasites or mites ? What shall I do ?
The medium is hatchrite, the camera won't pick them up so pointless taking a picture. Any body any ideas. ??

Thanks again
Mark

I don't think is fruit fly larvae cause they look to have legs almost like centrepeids. The egg in question is going bad yes but I lifted it up for find more under it, could this be the reason to why my eggs are slowly going bad as the rest look fine still. Ave tried to search but can't find nothing on th forum or net

Thanks mark

Well then I'm not sure, I will sometimes put sphagnum moss around my eggs as it is acidic by nature and helps create an unpleasant environment for microbes. I don't know if this would help with other pests. I have never used hatchrite, could it possibly be too moist or too dry. Maybe you could separate the egg into a closed container and see what the worm morphs into.

I had this happen with Veild eggs in 2008.It was the issue that lead me to the forums. My conclusion was it was some type of larva. Maybe a nat larva??Out of 52 eggs. One egg hatched. His name is Karma. He is alive and doing well.My guess is your air holes in your containers are two big. These days I use a push pin (thumbtack) and use multiple pin holes instead of a few larger ones.Nats or Fruit flys can not get threw a pin hole.Make sure the lids fit tight around the top.I also recomend keeping your eggs in a separate room from where your insects are kept. Sorry for your loss. Learning curbs an be tough when it comes to chameleons.

I would think it is the eggs going bad first then the pest takes over since it is rotting. I seldom have eggs grow mold or maggots without going bad first. I would dbl check my incubation parameters first. Good luck

sounds like phorid flies. I've seen eggs with absolutely no apparent problem wiped out, still-living babies inside. It was gross. upset me more so because they were deremensis, 10 years ago.

I've sealed off all of my egg containers since then, and have never had a problem.

The reason I had problems, I think, was because my eggs were kept in the same closet as my feeders. Dead feeders attract the flies, who love moist environments.

well you ask if its a parasite ..like a internal one right? does your female sleep during daytime now ? cause eggs are 8 months old now... did you use the egg bin soil in any other egg cluchs or clean soil and container?? did she ever have some sort of rough time??? just a few questions that might help some else help that knows about parasites weather it be internal in your chameleon or from your soil or some sort of air traveler i guess.. i dont know that much but am up to learn as much as i can... the larves mentioned in the other post i looked them up and life cycle is fast 14 to 37 days.... i think what he might be lookin at does not fly at any stage of life... maybe the answer you seek might need to take a sample of your chameleons dropings (poop) to a vet for testing just for your sake.. the only thing people keep say flys are because the 8 months time.. if it came from some parasite how long has it already been there since day one when she laid them? the one of many questions that lead to other questions.... just me ramblin:confused:

I had it happen to crested gecko eggs... Was pretty nasty, I could see the worms crawling around the outside of the egg.
