empty feeder insect guts for gutload?

Hi, i feed my dubias dog food mainly and i know that dog food is not good for my cham cuz its high in protein

So what I do is
I give dog food to dubias once a week so they can "maintain" the colony and set a small tub apart with 15~20 dubias for proper gutload (fresh greens and fruit, refered sandra's recipe) and i feed them to my cham for a week
I do the same thing with crickets too

I thought its way cheaper than providing proper gutload for the whole colony all the time

So... any words? about removing dog food from guts and filling them with gutload 2~3days before feeding day

(Oh and im korean live in southkorea so english is not my first language :D sorry if you got confused while reading my thread lol)

and here are some pics of my veiled for the first thread in chameleon forums!

I am trying now a chinchilla food and alfalfa mix for my colony. Super easy, dubias are eating it like crazy, and it has no animal protein and low fat content. I separate the feeders and further gutload them with fruits and veggies -the colony gets only oranges and tangerines.

Welcome to the Forum! Beautiful Veiled and cage setup.

Your thoughts on raising the large colony on a cheaper food source is a good one, and is practiced by some chameleon keepers. I do like the choice to go to an alfalfa based inexpensive food over dog food, I think your large colony will benefit from it.
On the small group you are going to feed off, I would still keep oranges on the menu, Dubias seem to devour them quicker than other fruits.

Cheers!

Nice vieiled u got there,u can feed them the more fresh Vegetables for the gutloaded purposes before u feed them to ur chamy, since Dubia has a longer digestive system in them, things like mustard green, collard green, carrots as long u dont feed them spicy kimchi in Korea, then its all good :)
