Evacuation / hospital bin

Hey all,

Writing from a very smoky and on fire Colorado. A new fire broke out closer to my house and although I'm not in danger today, it does have me prepping to get my girls out if needed.

I'm planning to make little hospital bin setups for them so I can fit them in my car. My question is: how long can they be in that setup before I have to get them into a bigger cage? (I'm planning worst case scenario here, the worst case being I do not return to my house.) I'm considering buying two 2x2x4 enclosures and stashing them at my dad's house. (Overkill, maybe....)

I hope you won't have to evacuate. It will depend on the size of the hospital cages for how long the chameleons can stay in them IMHO.
The butterfly cages sound like they might be an option.

Stay safe!

Sorry to hear that your going through this. I would think the butterfly enclosures would be a good idea. Then at least they take up less room for storage.

The butterfly closures are what I used to transport and are my emergency cages. You can easily wedge a stick in there to give them something to climb on and they come in various sizes that fold down extremely small. I would go for the 15 x 15 x 24“ size. It’s comfortable enough to buy you a few days time without being so large it’s hard to pack into the car
