cant believe it , just switched exo-terra repti-glow 10uvb bulb on and it exploded . its brand new. tried another bulb to make sure its not the wiring and it was fine. goin straight back to petshop tomorrow to complain& demand a new one ,at £20 you dont expect that. lucky i didnt have my little cham in at the time.anyone else had this happen to them.

Hopefully that was a rare occurance! Lucky your cham was'nt in there, and i'm sure they will replace it for you.

if thats the 10.0 bulb id highly recomend u get the 5.0 the 10 is a bit much for what your cham needs

ya if it were a tube style i would say get the 5.0 but the compact just dont seem to emit the same uvb this is why i say 10 is ok if any one is wondering.

i use reptisun 10.0s no problem, for the majority of my chameleon keeping career. i remeber reading 10.0s had the most sun like outputs and the reptisun brand emitted more of the right wavelengths.

this was all before the t5hos mind you.

5.0 strikes me as far too little, but at the same time i have a canopy of ficus leaves filtering a good amount of that direct light.

and having seen this video really kind of substantiates, in my head, why a 10.0 would be preferential over a 5.0. there is just such a small area of the cage where they can absorb the uv and being infrequently traversed it just makes much more sense to me to provide higher concentrations for when they are exposed.

100% agree! Everyone watch the video, it really is an eye opener. It is amazing at just how little uv these 5.0 tubes give off and we use screen most of the time which is in the way! I now use 12% arcadia T5Ho bulbs and they are great!

i agree with all this but keep in mind all you new comers that these are experienced keepers that are using the 12% ho arcadias make sure you research how to proper setup and use these high uv lights to insure healthy chams.
