Eye infection questions

Hello - I have a 8 month old panther male and he seems to have an eye infection, is this a vet visit or is there anything I can do at home or use ? I tried a warm cloth before I went to work this morning but it didn't seem to help

I did just end up getting the junk of out his eye with warm water, a wash cloth and q-tip real gently, he can now open his eye but I'm still worried

can you post photos?

if it is an eye infection, and not just something in his eye, you will need a vet to prescribe treatment.

If you suspect an infection, then a trip to the vet is necessary. Only medication will help clear an infection. However, there are a couple things you can do in the interim to help him clean/clear the eye of discharge and gunk.
1. Give him a long warm misting or shower (like 15-30) min.
2. Flush his eye with a sterile saline solution.

Posting some pictures might help us forum members assess the problem better.

OK so i just came home from work, my chams eye is all clear and he seems to be acting like his normal self - attached I found some pictures that looked EXACTLY like what my chams eye looked like this morning- I did get the junk out of his eye and it's still clear besides a little piece of shed on his lid. Do you think I should wait and see if it happens again, or do you think that there is definitely something wrong and he needs to go to the vet because I've heard that these pics can just indicate that there was something in his eye and he did recently shed- He is acting 100% normal other than this morning he was just laying around because he couldn't see out of that eye and when I was trying to get the junk out he seemed to not mind one bit! What are your opinions? This is my chams eye now - (you can definitely notice the little piece of shed that was left over)
