Alright, who here plays MMORPGs? (Or some other kind of massive multiplayer game besides Texas Holdem)

Spill it, what do you got?

DDO, WOW (rarely), Star Trek online (just started)

I used to play WoW until Skyrim came out and sucked my life away ;)
I still play TF2 occasionally and I have heard good things about Tera, so I might check that out.

Yeah Skyrim is pretty cool. I have been having fun on STO. Even got ky WOW friend to to play. Don't like it as much as DDO but hey....

I've heard a lot of good things about Star Trek. You think it's worth checking out?

Well, its free to play now, so based on price I would say yes.

I like it, as I said I like Dungeons and Dragons Online more but that is a matter of preference. STO has grown on me.

big mmo geek here....

Have been playing mmo's since EQ was in beta

Played EQ1, eq2, WoW, DAoC, DC online, Star Trek Online, Planetside, Fallen Earth, SW the old republic, Eve, Tabla Rassa, Anarchy Online, etc... ughhh can't even remember all the various ones that have beta'd or played.

Just canceled my SWTOR subscription though so not playing anything at the moment. I am a pvp'r so if the pvp sux or starts to sux I am usually done with the title.

STO was ok early on but then ppl started dropping subscriptions and the player base disappeared kind of. Fallen earth is a free to play and pay for premium access sandbox type game if your into that. Its a decent game with ppl still playing it.

Tera is one of those click crazy games... not going to do that anymore. Getting to old I guess and since I had carpal tunnel surgery last yr just do not have the twitch motor skills to compete pvp wise in that type of game anymore.

Wow! That was a long time ago! EQ has been around forever!

I have not tried most of those. Might get back into WoW after finals. I am not a huge fan of WoW, I kind of get bored of it. DDO is much better IMO because there is a lot more puzzle solving(Honestly, a lot of why I started playing DDO is because there is a shortage of PnP DND players out here. I would actually rather roll dice). The quests are much richer. Of course if you are a PvPer you might not like it as much.

wowhead here, canceled my subscription a couple months back, just dont have the time to progress in endgame content, and they have made lvling so easy, mundane and obsolete. plus my pvp guild disbanded and i got sick of pugs for rated, not on the best of servers for pvp.

it has its ups and downs, always loved the lore though WC3 sucked me in. i own all the pen and paper rpg books and i dont even role play.

and now this razer naga gets no use..... oh well

Pen and paper RPGs still exist? I thought they died with all these new fangled online games.

I must say that I am quite looking forward to GuildWars 2. Never played the first one, but the trailer and graphics on this second one look stunning! Especially the character customization, wow!

BLASPHEMY!!!!! OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!!!!

As a matter of fact, me and a few friends just started up a game of Advanced D&D this very evening. Yup, the old school pen and paper version and the various multi sided dice. So far I’m only a Level One Elf with an unseen servant but I slew my first Orc tonight. It was very satisfying I must say.

I was one of the biggest RPG nerds alive but never enjoyed the online games. Probably because I'm old and I used to play with people who actually wrote supplements and consulted with game design on some of the non-D&D systems. Super nerds!

Then I decided I like girls and it was all over ha haa

If your girls come between you and your DnD, you got the wrong girls buddy!

[Edit]
By the way, what does being old have to do with not playing DnD? Biggest DnD nerd I ever met was my ex girlfriends Dad. The guy was at least 45-50 years old when she and I dated and he still got his gaming crew together once a week to battle monsters! (He also had the biggest anime collection I have ever seen. I probably would like anime if it were not for the fact that she utterly burned me out on episodes of Ranma 1/2 and Dragonball-whatever.

Yes, it is a satisfying game in a weird sort of, "I spend 4 hours pretending to do WHAT?!" sort of way! I have not play PnP in quite a while though. College basically ate all of my gaming time (plus its not easy finding players out here).

Ha ha I had a few girlfriends who liked to play and did play off and on until my mid 20s. Its been around 10 years since I played though.

Most of my group was pretty serious about their gaming. We probably played about 20+ different games. When I sold all my gaming books there were over 300. The only ones I kept were for Arcanum only because it is the best game ever written and it hasn't been printed in a long long time.

For both video and pen and paper: I was playing Homeworld II one day for my 5th straight hour and I got this overwhelming sensation that I would one day die. I asked myself if I wanted to this or play the real game of life.

When were young we play games to prepare ourselves for the real world. The RPG games I played prepared me well and taught me a lot which gives me an edge at work and in life in general I think so I wouldn't ever say it is bad for anyone. But I decided I want to play the real game of life. I've been in some really weird situations, my life has been threatened, I've had some great real adventures. I personally like them better and I kinda see my life as the greatest game I've ever played.

Woah! Over 300! Wow, you were one of those gamers that put my crew to bitter shame!

I can respect that. Although I will point out it is not a dichotomy ;)
