Fennec Fox!

Does anyone have any experience with these little guys? They're insanely cute. I've done some research and they don't seem that hard to care for. Just like a dog or a cat only with waay more energy and require more bonding time since they are quite social. Is it worth getting one?

Thats a bummer. I think I can get one in my city but I'm not sure where to find out what cities they are illegal in. I found the states that have certain cities that don't allow them and my state was included. So idk. I think I should be able to though, Landenberg is country area, not NY, lol.

you better go visit a few - they are HYPER - make noise, can be crazy- wild- and ARE AS CUTE AS EVER !! but, really, do go met some in person, not just one- a zoo vet was a friend of mine, we got to go "after hours" on rounds with him- I remember these - I remember because I teased - " just how much coffee did you give that little guy" and they can climb like a cat just about, and he also told us they can get out of just about anything short of Ft. Knox - lol but I must agree -THEY ARE CUTE !

I believe they require a room of their own, and cannot be left unattended if they are not in their own rooms. Probably high maintenance, but if your up for the task I say do it!
They are just soooo cute!

Yeah, they are pretty high maintenance, and I don't think my parents would let me get one anyway, at least while I'm still at home. I'll think about it more once I move out. I'm gonna get more pets when I move out. Ideally I would like an Ambilobe panther, a few pygmies, some crested geckos, a hedgehog, and a fennec fox. But who knows what the future holds and how much time I will have. I'm still deciding what I want to do with my life. I'm deffinatly gearing toward something animal related now. I've always liked them, but within the past my love for them has grown so much. Now I'm ranting. I guess I'm just kinda scared since I'm finishing up high school and I have no idea what to do after. Maybe I'll take a gap year and volunteer in Florida for sea turtle relief. Still ranting. Oh well, I'll just let whatever happens, happen. :p

Can they be house-broken, or do they live in cages? I would think your house would smell terribly like urine:eek:

From the research I've done, it seems they can be house-broken but no matter what, they will still have the occasional accident. People seem to have had success with litter boxes or puppy pads. As far as smell goes, the urine is no worse than a dog or a cats urine.

fennec fox experience?

hi i live in pa and me and my fiance would love to get a fennec fox but we need two years experience handling one before we may get our exotic animal permit. does anyone know where we could do this? I've been searching but keep coming up with nothing. please help thank you :)
