Hi guys. Just got a female veiled this weekend. She is only 2 months old. Eating great and seems to be doing fine. I have her in a small reptibreeze right now. I had a few questions for when she grows up. For a female adult what size cage is good. Not what is the minium. I want her to be happy. And what lights do you use for the large cages? I don't think the mini deep dome is going to be enough for the big cage.

When she gets older, the sky is the limit on cage size. As big as you can give her - that's the maximum cage size. :)

A regular deep dome and/or multiple basking zones work for larger cages. You don't necessarily need to heat the whole cage a bunch, but make sure that her basking spot is as big as she is.

Enjoy your new baby!

Welcome to the Forum and the neighborhood. For the time being, you are good w/ what you have but upon a year old, take advantage of our wonderful sun here. As she is so young, you don't want to get her to hot. For inside you would want to get her into a 2x2x4. A basking light that gets you to a good female temp, and a dual or quad t5 tube fixture will do a great job for you in a 2x2x4 enclosure. But go for it when you get her outside. I keep my male in a 6x3x6 that is loaded w/ tons of live plants. He decides when to bask and when to hang in the shade or under his dripper. Being she's a female learn about temps, feeding, and weight to the girls. Even w/ out being mated, she can lay eggs. You want to be prepared. The last thing you want is her getting egg bound un-expectedly. Don't ever stop asking questions.

What would be the proper basking temp now as a baby? And what would be the adult temp? And who has a good care sheet. Right now I have a basking temp of 90. And I feed her 2 to 3 times a day.

that basking temp is way too high for an adult, much less a baby.

the care sheet you can find on this website, go to the forum main page, look to the right, and it says care sheets. click that.

Welcome to the forums. Congrats on your new veiled. I keep veileds and the females are so sweet. I have a few blogs for you that you might find helpful on general care, female care, egg laying and the laying bin. Females lay eggs even when there's not a male around so by the age of 5 months I recommend keeping a laying bin in her enclosure at all time. Also lower her basking temps. 90 is to hot.
