Hi all- Wondering if someone can help me. I bred my 14 mos old Nosy Be panther Chameleons for the first time today. Everything seemed to go according to plan until the male’s hemipenes came out. I did not disturb them and finally they split up and the female went to the other side of the cage. The male’s hemipene is still out. It has now been about 3 hours. Is this normal? I’m wondering if I should leave him be or try to intervene in some way. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

After looking at the forums I did some cold soaks in sugar water, then took a q-tip with olive oil and gently pushed it back in. It DID go in pretty easily and has stayed there. Will monitor closely to see how he is doing. Thanks to the forums for info to help. And I would still love to hear if anyone has anything to add. Thanks!

Sounds like you did a good job...just keep an eye on things. Next time (heaven forbid) I would use KY jelly to push it back in...I don't know if oils will let fungal growth occur there. Maybe someone else can answer that question.

I used the olive oil after I saw a couple posts using it and the fact that I didn’t have any KY jelly on hand, but I have already added it to my shopping list.
Thank you so much for the response. Things can get scary fast. Thank goodness for this forum!
