First Timer needs help/advice/assistance.

I am really busy right now, Jay and ReptileLove18, we have alot more discussing and chit chatting to do! I have to thank you guys, because yet again my chameleon care plan is going to take another diracstic change. I am very scared about his stress pattern. I Got an older Kilo so I wouldnt have it raised from a baby, i was worried i couldn't do it.... But I should of thought more deeply about the pros/cons of raising it from a baby. i ihave my fingers crossed.

I have a date w/ my sigificant other for a movie at 7:30, i'm goig to look like a bum because I'm so into this! I'd rahter just stay here (shhh!)

HA! But I am going to gather all of these facts when I get home, do the reading supplied by Jay and go from there.

I'll also get UP close and personal pics of kilo (if he will allow me, ill try zooming)

Thank you guys for caring, ive read such lies, worst than hearing the lies at the 'pet stores' deff getting my female from an experienced breeder I can drive to either locally or long distance, totally worth it.

you guys are beautiful inside and out!

Keep on Chamin :)

Talk soon guys!!!!!!!!

-Brian & Kilo <3

you'll do fine!
have fun on your date!

Omg I got to read this over and over and read through the articles you provided. And again, so many things I am doing wrong.... orang bits, potatoe.... His cage is on point! I could use a few more real plants...
Anyone know how "lucky bamboo" and chameleons are? I have it in the cage... things are going well so far, he constantly statres at the bamboos though like "MOMMY" O_O haha my bf likes Kilo, but doesn't get into the reading, is believing what the 'pet' "stores" say... It really breaks my heart to think that peoples pets are dying, we're paying 300$ for a vield chameleon which was poorly cared for... I could only imagine all those poor snakes... its a "Reptile Distribution Center" I wish I could take action without stirring up to much pablicity.. its not my fault, but its sooo NOT fair

im glad you read everything i provided, having everything on point is really important for Kilo's heath!
bamboo is good for cham cages, but you do need to cover the soil in any live plant containers with large rocks that he couldnt get in his mouth so that he cant ingest the soil.
i wouldnt believe much of what the pet stores say oftentimes they are wrong. the information provided in the blogs and caresheets is accurate and will help give Kilo the best enviroment possible :)
also, its not recommended to have any substrate on the bottom of his cage, dont know if he does or not but that can be ingested and can lead to impaction and causes serious issues, best not to have anything. makes it easier to clean and way safer for you cham.
yeah its really sad when animals die because of poor care, especially if you bought it and did everything you could to save it but it couldnt make it. that happened with my first veiled and it was heart breaking :( and it sucks even more when theres not much you can do to stop it from happening

GIRLLL I'm soo osorry I cried the 2nd night we had him i thought he was dying. I over reacted to his mouth staying open for a while and all the panic/worry of the "pet" store omg i couldn't imagne watching him suffer on the cage floor, I'd die. No soil. have the bamboos sitting in a littl pot with water and the vines. I would like to purchase a plant from a chameleon breader so i can ensure theres no bugs, spiders, pestisides, know anyone who sells them?

it was terrible! im just glad i gave him a good life for the time he had.
you gotta get a thermometer and hygrometer to monitor the temps and humidity, his mouth staying open can be him being too hot and trying to cool down.
you can get a plant from a general store like walmart lowes orchard you just have to wash the leaves really well, replant it in organic soil, and cover the soil with large rocks. you also have to be sure that the plant is chameleon safe, some plants are toxic to chams and have to be avoided because they will sometimes chew on the plants in their cage. ill get the link to the safe plant list for ya :)

here is the safe plant list! https://www.chameleonforums.com/plants/
there are tons of great plants you can use, the more the better! Kilo will love them, they like the security of being able to hide and having lots of places to run around. its also great to have horizontal perches and pathways high in the enclosure because they want to be high up so tall plants and vines and pathways, all of this will add to his happiness :)

I have a screen cage, how do u hold humidity in that? I'm confused about it... Im constantly spraying it... no themomiter or humidythingy.

I got it with the soil safe stuff!!! I'd deff remember those steps!!!!

live plants help alot with the humidity because the soil holds humidity, so more live plants will help. you wont know if you need to make more adjustments until you get a thermometer and a hygrometer, which you gotta do soon cuz he needs a certain temp and humidity :) once you get that we can better help keep it where it should be. if the humidity is lower then it needs to be between misting alot of keepers will cover two sides of the screen with a shower curtain, that way there is still plenty of airflow which is also imporant and the humidity stays better. you have to let the cage dry before misting again tho so watch that! when you get the thermometer and hygrometer, which you can get at petstores, pretty sure walmart too maybe lowes or orchard we can figure out if anything needs to be done with the humidity! :)
you're gonna be a great cham daddy! it takes a few to get into the swing of things but once you are everything will be fabulous and super fun with Kilo! :D
