as this is my first chameleon iv read as babies they need food almost constanly around iv been letting the food free roam the encloser which is great to whach and seems to keep him happy is this the best way to do this and if iam dusting wont the dust just come off if he dosent eat thjem strejghy away

Yes...the dusting will fall off.

I usually feed my babies as much as they will eat during a minute or two and try not to leave extra crickets in the cage. The "left-over" crickets might chew on the chameleon and they can annoy it as well....and, as you said...the dust will fall off them.

if you let your feeders freee roam you have to be sure your cage is setup to avoid impaction

What he means to say is: don't have any substrate or items in the cage that your chameleon could eat that might cause impaction like stones or sticks or whatever else you might think isn't something he would eat normally.

The dusting does come off... but if he eats two or three right away it shouldn't matter THAT much as long as you offer some freshly dusted crickets the next day. If you find he only eats 6 crickets right away and the rest don't get eaten... only off six. Then later in the day try and offer him a few more.... if he eats none of them you know he is fine on 6 crickets. Just try to minimize the amount of crickets left in the cage at night. I had a bad experience and it led to having part of my Melleri's tail removed.
